Overview
Disapproving a Result records that a completed Checklist's outcome isn't acceptable — for example, a check done to the wrong standard, or failing answers a reviewer won't sign off. The Result stays in Results, marked Disapproved with your comment, and its answers don't change.
Disapproval is the negative outcome of validating a Checklist. It's a decision, not a deletion: it doesn't take the Result out of reporting, and it doesn't send the Checklist back to be redone. To remove a Result that shouldn't count at all, see Invalidating Results.

💡 Why this matters: A disapproval is your audit trail for "this check wasn't good enough". The Result, the reviewer's comment and the decision all stay on record, so you can see what was rejected, by whom and why — instead of the evidence quietly disappearing.
Disapprove a Result in the Backend
1. Open Results
Go to Results.
2. Select the Results
Tick the Results you want to disapprove — up to 100 at a time. The Disapprove button is only available when you can disapprove every selected Result: none is already disapproved, and you're allowed to validate all of them.
3. Click Disapprove
Click Disapprove in the toolbar to open Result Disapproval.
4. Add a comment and confirm
Enter a Comment that says what's wrong, attach files if useful, and click Disapprove. If you leave the comment empty, Mobaro asks you to confirm.
Reviewers can also disapprove Results that are awaiting validation in the mobile app — see How to validate Checklists.
What disapproval changes
The Result stays in Results. Filter by State › Disapproved to find it.
Its answers and score don't change. The disapproval, your comment and any attachments are recorded in the Result's history.
It still counts in dashboards: the Completed Checklists widget includes disapproved Results unless you exclude Disapproved in the widget's state filter.
If the Result came from a Certification Process, the certification it awarded is removed.
A Notification Rule with When a result has been disapproved can email people about it — see Create and manage Notification Rules.
🛑 Critical: A disapproved Result still counts as done for its slot. Disapproving doesn't reopen the Checklist or ask anyone to redo it. If a safety or pre-opening check must be done again, invalidate the Result instead so it becomes resumable or is rescheduled — see Invalidating Results.
Location readiness: with Color is only affected by approved results turned on (in Configuration › Location Overview › Header Color), a critical Checklist whose Result requires validation keeps its Location red until the Result is approved. A disapproved Result doesn't turn it green. See Schedule criticality and Location operational status.
Reverse a disapproval
Select the Result in Results and click Approve. The approval replaces the disapproval, and both stay in the Result's history. The same works the other way: disapproving an approved Result replaces the approval.
Disapprove, approve or invalidate
Action | Use it when | What happens to the Result |
Approve | The outcome is acceptable | Stays in Results, marked Approved |
Disapprove | The outcome isn't acceptable, and you want that on record | Stays in Results and reporting, marked Disapproved |
Invalidate | The Result shouldn't count at all, such as a test run, or the work must be redone | Leaves Results and reporting; can be made resumable or rescheduled |
To fix a single wrong answer instead, see Modify Checklist Results.
Best practices
Always add a comment when you disapprove, so the team knows what to fix.
Decide per case whether the work must be repeated. If it must, invalidate or reschedule — a disapproval alone won't bring the Checklist back.
If dashboards should show only acceptable outcomes, exclude Disapproved in the widget's state filter.
Frequently asked questions
What happens when I disapprove a checklist result?
The Result is marked Disapproved with your comment and stays in Results. Its answers don't change, it still counts as completed, and nobody is asked to redo it. You can approve it later.
How do I send a result back to the user to redo it?
Not with Disapprove. Use Invalidate with Make the active invalidated results resumable ticked while the slot is open, or reschedule it if the slot has expired. See Invalidating Results.
What's the difference between disapproving and invalidating a result?
Disapproving keeps a real Result on record as not acceptable. Invalidating takes a Result out of reporting because it shouldn't count. See Invalidating Results.
How do I undo a disapproved result?
Select it in Results and click Approve. The approval replaces the disapproval, and both stay in the Result's history.
Who can disapprove results?
Super Users, or users whose Role has Results › Validate and who are a Reviewer on the Result's Schedule or Ad Hoc Slot. See How to validate Checklists.
What happens if I disapprove a certification process result?
The certification that Result awarded is removed from the user. The Result stays on record as Disapproved.
