Overview
The Certification Center (the tile on the app home screen, where you find assigned training) is where you, as a frontline User, manage your qualifications in the Mobaro mobile app: see the Competencies you hold and when they expire, and earn new Certifications by completing a Certification Process. If you're an assessor, it's also where you complete Certifications on behalf of others. This article is the staff-facing companion to the admin setup covered in Utilizing Competencies.

💡 Why this matters: Your Competencies decide what you're cleared to do — which Checklists you can start and which RideOps positions you can take. Keeping them current is what keeps you cleared to work.
Open the Certification Center
On the home screen of the Mobaro mobile app, tap the Certification Center tile. The number on the tile shows how many Certification Processes are currently available to you.
The Certification Center has two tabs: Certification, for the Processes you can complete, and Competencies, for the Competencies you hold. The tile appears once you hold at least one Competency or have at least one Certification Process available to you. Your administrator can also hide it with app area availability rules — see Configuring app settings and app area availability rules.
See the Competencies you hold
Open the Competencies tab in the Certification Center. Your Competencies are split into two sections:
Active — Competencies you currently hold. Each shows Expires: with its expiration date, or Never if it doesn't expire. A Competency you've completed a Process for but that is still waiting for a reviewer shows Awaiting approval.
Expired — a Competency whose Certification has expired since the app last refreshed its data, with the date it expired.
ℹ️ Note: The app only downloads Certifications that haven't expired, so an expired Competency shows under Expired only until the app next refreshes its data, then drops off the list. There's nothing to toggle. The app doesn't show a separate "due for renewal" status; a Competency stays under Active until it expires. Administrators see due-for-renewal status in the Mobaro Backend. For how the Backend handles expired Certifications, see visibility and retention of user certifications.
Earn a Certification
1. Open the available Processes
Open the Certification tab. The My Certifications section lists the Certification Processes you can complete now. Each shows its Checklist name and the Competency it awards. A Process only appears here when you hold all of the Competencies it requires. Once you've earned a Certification from it, it disappears until that Certification is due for renewal or expires — see Renew a Certification below.
2. Start the Process
Tap a Process to open its Checklist, then work through it.
3. Receive the Competency
Once you complete the Checklist — and a reviewer approves it, where the Process requires validation — the Competency is awarded automatically and appears under Active on the Competencies tab. If you have push notifications turned on for awarded Competencies, you'll also get a notification.
⚠️ Heads-up: If the Certification Process requires validation, your Competency isn't awarded the moment you finish — it waits for a reviewer to approve your Result. Until then it shows Awaiting approval. If the reviewer disapproves the Result, the Competency isn't awarded.
Assess someone else
If you've been set as an assessor on a peer-assessment Certification Process, the Certification tab also has an Assess others section. Each Process there shows how many people are waiting to be assessed. Tap it, choose the person on the Select user to assess screen, and complete the Checklist for them — for supervisor sign-offs and in-field observations. The person you assess receives the Competency once the assessment is complete (and approved, if the Process requires validation). See Allow peer assessments in certification processes.
Renew a Certification
Mobaro currently doesn't send reminders before a Certification expires, and the app doesn't flag Competencies that are due for renewal. Instead, a Certification Process that awards the Competency appears in the Certification Center again when it's time to renew. For a peer-assessment Process, it reappears in your assessor's Assess others list instead of yours.
After the renewal date — once your Certification is past its renewal date, the Process becomes available again, as long as completing it would extend your expiration date.
After expiry — once your Certification has expired, the Process becomes available again.
No renewal date, or never expires — if your Certification has no renewal date, the Process only comes back once it expires. If it never expires, the Process doesn't come back.
Retake the Process — including any required validation — before your Certification's expiration date to stay qualified without a gap.
Best practices
Check regularly. Look at the number on the Certification Center tile and the expiration dates on your Competencies tab, and complete renewals as soon as they appear. A lapsed Certification can keep you out of a RideOps position or stop you starting a Checklist mid-shift.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the Certification Center? I don't have the tile on my home screen.
It's the Certification Center tile on the app home screen. It appears once you hold a current Certification or have a Certification Process available as an Assignee or Assessor; no permission needed. If tapping the blank tile says "Access to selected area denied", an app area availability rule hides it.
I've been told I have training assigned to me. Where do I find it?
In the Certification Center. Tap its tile on the app home screen, open the Certification tab, and look under My Certifications. Each item is a Certification Process; tap it to open its Checklist. The number on the tile shows how many are available.
My training is stuck on Awaiting approval. Why?
The Certification Process requires validation, so a reviewer must approve your Result before the Competency is awarded. If it stays there, ask your supervisor: a disapproved Result also keeps showing Awaiting approval until it's invalidated, and only then can you retake the Process.
An employee doesn't have the Certification Center on their phone. How do I fix it?
Add them, or a User Group they're in, as an Assignee on a Certification Process (or an Assessor, for peer assessment), and check each Assignee holds its Required Competencies. The tile appears after the app refreshes. If it's blank, check your app area availability rules.
As a reviewer, where do I approve certifications waiting for approval?
Not in the Certification Center. Open Checklists and tap the review icon at the top (it appears, with a count, when Results are waiting), then open Awaiting Validation. See Validating certifications as a reviewer.
Can I save my certification checklist to the cloud?
No. A Certification Process Checklist can only be saved on the device you're using, even when your organization has turned off saving locally, so finish it on that device.
