Overview
Sometimes a completed Result needs a correction — a mistyped reading, a wrong option, a comment that shouldn't be there. Modifying a Result lets you edit or remove individual answers on a completed Checklist in the Backend, without throwing the whole Result away. The Result is re-scored, and every change is logged.

💡 Why this matters: A Result feeds dashboards, reports and compliance records, so a wrong answer left in place skews everything built on it. Modifying fixes just the wrong answer and keeps a full record of who changed what. Because it doesn't re-run the Checklist's logic, it pays to know exactly what does and doesn't happen.
Edit or remove an answer
1. Open the Result
Go to Results, tick the Result and click View.
2. Edit an answer
Click the pencil icon next to the question. In the dialog, change the answer, the attachments or the comment, and click Save Changes.
3. Or remove an answer
Click the trash icon next to the question and confirm with Remove Answer.
4. Save your changes
Your changes aren't saved yet: a panel shows You have 1 change(s) to answers. Enter a Reason (optional) and click Save Changes, or click Discard Changes to drop them. You can make several changes and save them together.
What happens when you save
Scores for the questions, pages and the Result are recalculated.
Logic that shows or hides questions based on answers is not re-run.
No Assignments are created, even if the new answer would normally trigger one.
Assignments already created by the old answer are not removed.
The changed answer is recorded as answered by you, at the time of your change, and its map position is removed.
The change — old and new answer, who made it, when, and your reason — is added to the Result's activity feed.

What you can't edit
Checklists that are still in progress (Resumable Results) — only completed Results can be modified.
Signature and Water Quality answers — there is no editor for them.
Questions that weren't answered, including hidden ones — you can change or remove an answer, but not add one.
Answers in the mobile app — modifying is done in the Backend.
Modify, disapprove or invalidate

Best practices
Always enter a Reason when you save, so auditors can see why an answer changed.
If a corrected answer should have raised an Assignment, create the Assignment yourself — modifying won't.
If many answers are wrong, or the fix would change which questions are shown, invalidate the Result and let it be completed again instead.
Give Results › Modify only to the people who should correct submitted data.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit a checklist after it has been submitted?
Yes, in the Backend, if you're a Super User or your Role has Results › Modify. Open the Result from Results and click the pencil icon next to the question. You can't edit answers in the mobile app, or on a Checklist that is still in progress.
Can a reviewer or validator edit results?
Not as a Reviewer alone. Approving and disapproving needs Results › Validate; editing answers needs Results › Modify or Super User. Give the Role both if reviewers should also correct answers.
I forgot to fill in some answers. Can I add them after the checklist is completed?
No. You can change or remove answers that were given, but not answer a question that was left empty. If the slot is still active, invalidate the Result and keep it resumable so it can be finished — see Invalidating Results.
If I approve a result, will its score go back to 100%?
No. Approving doesn't change answers or the score. The score changes only when you edit or remove an answer, and it's then recalculated from the new answers.
Can the edit log on a result be removed?
No. Every saved change stays in the Result's activity feed, with who made it, when, the old and new answers and any reason. It can't be hidden or deleted.
How do I delete a result?
Use Invalidate, not Modify: removing answers keeps the Result, while invalidating takes it out of reporting. See Invalidating Results.
