Overview
The Operational Log dialog is a Location's activity timeline in the Mobaro Backend. It lists openings and closings, RideOps dispatches and queue times, sign-ins, Notes, Assignments, Downtimes and RideOps Checklist Results, and a Planned view of what's coming up.
Use it to investigate an incident, review a shift or find evidence for an audit. For how the log book works in the app and RideOps, see Log book — activity timelines across Mobaro.

Open the Operational Log
1. Select the Location
In the Mobaro Backend, go to Locations and select one Location in the list.
2. Click View Operational Log
Click View Operational Log in the toolbar. The dialog opens with the Location's name in its title, for example Operational Log - Jewel Hunt. Each row shows the Activity, its Source and the Time.
The filters across the top are, from left to right: the time frame, the time range (Completed only), Users / User Groups and Activities.
Choose Completed or Planned
The time frame filter switches between two views of the timeline:
Completed: what has already happened, newest first. Use the time range filter next to it to pick the period. It starts at This week; you can pick presets such as Today, Yesterday or Last week, or a Custom Time Range of whole days.
Planned: what's coming up, from now until the end of the seventh day ahead in the Location's time zone, soonest first. There's no time range filter in this view.
Planned shows two kinds of activity:
Scheduled result: the Location's RideOps Preopening Checklist and Closing Checklist, at the opening and closing times of its opening hours. They only appear when the Location has opening hours and RideOps Checklists — see Add opening hours to a Location.
Assignments: Assignments at the Location that aren't finished and have a start or end in the period, such as Assignments created from a Note or a Downtime.
⚠️ Heads-up: Planned doesn't list the Checklists in your Schedules or Calendars. To see what's due from Schedules, check the Schedules or a Dashboard widget.
Choose activity types
The Activities filter, on the right, is a checkbox list of activity types. The list is fixed: it doesn't depend on your Role or on which integrations you use.
Activity type | What it shows in Completed |
Open Location, Close Location | Each time the Location was opened or closed |
Dispatch, Update Queue | Dispatches and queue times recorded in RideOps or added in this dialog |
Authorization | RideOps sign-ins and sign-outs, as Logged in as operator or Logged in as a Position |
External Dispatch, External Update Queue | Dispatches and queue times sent in by an integration |
Notes | Notes created, approved or rejected at the Location, and Assignments they triggered |
Assignments | Assignments linked to operations, such as those from Notes and Downtimes, being created, started and resolved |
Downtimes | Downtimes started and resolved, and Assignments created from them |
Results | RideOps Preopening and Closing Checklist Results completed, approved or disapproved |
In Completed, Open Location, Close Location, Dispatch, Update Queue and Authorization are ticked by default. In Planned, only Scheduled result and Assignments are offered.
Filter by user
Click the Users filter (the people icon) and pick one or more Users and User Groups in Users / User Groups. The timeline then shows only activity by those people — useful for reviewing a shift or one Operator's actions.
ℹ️ Note: The user filter doesn't apply to External Dispatch and External Update Queue. Those entries come from an integration, not a user, so they still show when you filter by user.
Add or correct entries
Actions appear in a toolbar above the filters; select an entry to act on it. Open takes you to the selected Note, Assignment, Downtime or Result. On a RideOps Location, Create Activity adds a missed dispatch or queue time, and Edit Activity and Delete Activity change RideOps dispatch and queue entries. These three need Operations › Manage Dispatch Entries or Manage Queue Entries. See Updating and adding to the Operational Log.
Openings and closings aren't edited here. Correct them in the Uptime Summary — see Reviewing and correcting uptime in the Uptime Summary.
Worked examples
Example 1: Shift handover review
Scenario: a morning supervisor wants to know what the evening team logged on a coaster.
Setup: Completed, time range Yesterday. In Activities, tick Open Location, Close Location, Notes, Downtimes and Assignments.
Result: one list shows the closing, any Downtimes, Notes and the Assignments they created, without the dispatch entries.
Example 2: Checking a guest complaint
Scenario: a guest complained about a long queue yesterday afternoon.
Setup: Completed, time range Yesterday. Tick Dispatch, External Dispatch, Update Queue and Downtimes, and sort by Time.
Result: the dispatches, posted queue times and any Downtime around the time of the complaint, so you can answer with specifics.
Example 3: What's coming up this week
Scenario: a Park Director wants to know what's still due on a ride.
Setup: Planned, with Scheduled result and Assignments ticked.
Result: the ride's Preopening and Closing Checklists at each opening and closing time for the next seven days, and the open Assignments due in that period.
Best practices
Start with the question you're answering and tick only the activity types it needs; ticking everything makes the timeline hard to scan.
Pick the time range before adding types, so the list loads quickly.
Filter by a User Group to review one team's shift.

Frequently asked questions
Can I see who was signed in to a ride, and in which position?
Yes. In Completed, tick Authorization in Activities. The log lists Logged in as operator, Logged out as operator and Logged in as a Position, each with its time. Add the Users / User Groups filter to follow one person.
Can I fix a wrong rider count or add a missing dispatch afterwards?
Yes. Select the entry and click Edit Activity, or add one with Create Activity. This needs Super User or Operations › Manage Dispatch Entries (queue times: Manage Queue Entries). See Updating and adding to the Operational Log.
Can I export the Operational Log, for example to PDF?
No. The dialog has no export. For operating hours per Location over a period, use the Operational History Details Widget. Uptime periods and Downtimes are also available through the Public API — see Getting started with the Mobaro API.
What does the Planned view show?
The Location's RideOps Preopening and Closing Checklists at each opening and closing time, and unfinished Assignments due, from now to the end of the seventh day ahead. It doesn't show Checklists from your Schedules.
Can I filter out one person, such as a trainer?
No. The Users / User Groups filter only includes people: it shows activity by the Users and User Groups you pick. To leave one person out, pick the others, or a User Group they aren't in.
