Overview
Deleting a Certification takes a qualification away from a User, and with it the Competency it granted. How you remove one depends on where it came from. A Certification created manually in the Backend can be deleted directly. One awarded by a Certification Process is tied to the Result that earned it, so you remove it through that Result.
This article covers both paths and the other actions that remove Certifications, including one that doesn't, despite what its dialog says.

💡 Why this matters: The User loses the Competency as soon as the Certification is gone, which can immediately stop them taking RideOps positions or starting Checklists that require it. Use the right path, so the record of who was qualified, and why, stays consistent.
Choose the right method

On the Certifications page, Certifications from a Process show it in the Process column. Expired Certifications are hidden until you turn on Include Expired (the clock icon in the filter bar).
Delete a manual Certification
1. Open Certifications
In the Mobaro Backend, go to Competencies › Certifications.
2. Select the Certifications
Tick the checkbox next to each Certification you want to delete. You can select several at once.
3. Delete and confirm
Click the Delete (trash) icon in the toolbar, then confirm with Delete. The dialog warns that this can't be undone and can stop users using RideOps or completing certain Checklists.
If your selection includes a Certification from a Process, Mobaro shows Unable to delete certifications from processes and deletes nothing. Clear those from the selection and use the Result instead.
Remove a Certification from a Process
1. Open the Result
On the Certifications page, select the Certification, click Go to and choose Show result. You can also find the Result on the Results page.
2. Disapprove or invalidate it
Choose the action that matches what should happen next. Both remove the Certification straight away.

Other ways Certifications are removed
Deleting a Competency deletes every Certification for it, manual and Process-awarded, and the Certification Processes that award it. See How to create a Competency.
Deleting a User deletes all their Certifications and removes them from every Process as Assignee, Assessor or Reviewer. Disabling keeps everything. See How does Mobaro manage the visibility and retention of user certifications?.
Deleting a Certification Process doesn't revoke the Certifications it awarded, even though its confirmation says it will. They stay valid until they expire (or indefinitely if they have no expiration), still count for Schedules and RideOps, and can't be deleted from the Certifications list. Results still awaiting validation can also still be approved, which awards the Competency. To revoke them, disapprove or invalidate their Results, ideally before you delete the Process.
Removing an Assignee from a Process stops new awards but leaves existing Certifications in place.
🛑 Critical: Deleting a Certification, a Competency or a User can't be undone. The User loses the Competency and any eligibility it gave them straight away. If you remove one by mistake, create a new Certification manually or have the User complete the Process again.
Best practices
Disable departing Users rather than deleting them, so their qualification history is kept for audits.
To correct the User or Competency on a manual Certification, delete it and create a new one; those two fields can't be edited. See Gaining and managing Certifications.
Before deleting a Competency or a Process, export or note the Certifications you may need later.
Add a comment when you disapprove or invalidate, so the history shows why the Certification was removed.
Frequently asked questions
Will deleting a certification process delete the certifications it gave?
No, despite what the confirmation says. They stay valid until they expire and can't be deleted from the Certifications list. To revoke them, invalidate their Results (Go to › Show result), ideally before you delete the Process. See Create a Certification Process.
How do I invalidate training for a user so they have to redo it?
Open their Certification on the Certifications page, click Go to › Show result and invalidate the Result. The Certification is removed and the Process becomes available to them again.
Can I delete several certifications at once?
Yes, for manual Certifications: tick them all and click Delete. You don't need to clean up after deleted Users: deleting a User already deletes all of their Certifications.
Why can't I delete a certification?
It came from a Certification Process. Mobaro shows Unable to delete certifications from processes: disapprove or invalidate the Result that provided it instead. If there's no Delete icon at all, your Role needs Competencies › Administrate.
I removed someone from a certification process. Why do they still have the certification?
Removing an Assignee stops future awards only. To take the Certification away, disapprove or invalidate the Result that awarded it.
How do I remove a competency completely?
Delete it under Competencies. This deletes every Certification for it and the Processes that award it, and removes it from Schedules and RideOps requirements. It can't be undone.
