Use a Specific slot when an inspection window starts one day and ends the next. A weekly Pattern cannot cross midnight, including its grace period.

💡 Why this matters: One continuous window lets the work belong to one scheduled opportunity rather than two unrelated daily slots.
Before you start
Confirm the Schedule’s Checklists, targets, assignees and Time Zone. If it inherits a master Calendar, edit the slot on that Calendar. See Specific slot behaviour.
Walkthrough
1. Check the Schedule scope
Open the Calendar Schedule and check Settings. A slot includes every Checklist and target in that Schedule, so separate work that should not share the overnight window.
2. Set both dates
Click the intended start date in the calendar to create a Specific. Set its start date and time and a later end date and time. For example, start 05/10/2026 at 20:00 and end 06/10/2026 at 02:00. Check the end date as well as the clock time.
3. Add the permitted grace period
If the procedure allows late completion, enable Allow grace period and set End of grace period after the deadline. This extends the completion opportunity; it does not make a late answer on time.
4. Save and inspect the window
Click Save Changes and check both calendar dates. Add separate Specifics for subsequent nights; a Specific does not repeat automatically. Verify one upcoming window with a User who receives the work.
Check the outcome
The same slot spans midnight with the intended deadline and grace period. It appears on the correct dates in the Schedule’s time zone.
Best practices
Plan future overnight dates before the first window begins.
Use a master Calendar only when several Schedules should inherit the same dates.
Check any overlapping Pattern or Exclusion.
Frequently asked questions
Can an overnight Pattern repeat every day?
No. Patterns must stay within one day. Add Specific slots for the required nights.
Can I use a Pattern grace period into tomorrow?
No. A Pattern’s grace period must end the same day. Use a Specific for that window.
Will opening hours create this inspection slot?
No. A Location’s Opening Hours Calendar does not schedule Checklists. Configure the slot on the inspection Schedule or its inherited Calendar.
