Serve different training videos by site

Keep one Library video item with site-specific versions and test which version is offered from a Checklist.

Written by Logan Bowlby

Overview

One training topic can have different videos for different sites. Add versions to one Library video and limit each to the Location Groups that should use it.

💡 Why this matters: The Checklist can point to one Library item while the available video versions reflect the work Location.

Before you start

Prepare accessible YouTube or Vimeo links and check the Location Group memberships. Mobaro stores video links rather than uploading or hosting video files. A version’s site scope is not a language preference.

Walkthrough

1. Create the shared video item

In the intended Library folder, choose Create › Video. Enter a clear Name and description for the training topic, such as Queue gate procedure.

2. Add the first site version

Click Add Version and paste its YouTube or Vimeo URL. Review Version Name; the video title can populate it. In Limit To (Location Groups), choose the site group.

3. Add the other site versions

Repeat for the other sites. An unrestricted version can be available alongside a site-specific one, so do not assume that a more specific version overrides the unrestricted version. Name each clearly.

4. Attach and test at each site

Save the video. In the Checklist question’s Videos section, choose Add Video and select the item, then save the Checklist. Test from a Checklist at each intended Location and confirm the available version and playback.

Check the outcome

The relevant site versions are offered for the Checklist’s Location and play for the intended Users. Folder publishing still governs independent Library browsing.

Best practices

  • Keep a small, clearly named version set.

  • Check the external video’s availability on the actual work device.

  • Update a version in place when replacing its video.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload the video file to Mobaro?

No. Use a YouTube or Vimeo link. See Library content.

Will Mobaro choose the video by the User’s language?

No. Version limits use Location Groups. Use clear version names when several are offered.

Why does YouTube open in a browser on iOS?

That is expected in the iOS mobile app. Check the link’s playback and availability in the browser.
