Overview
When a Checklist contains a question type that your version of the Mobaro app doesn't recognize, the app can't show that question's answer field. Instead it shows This question is not supported in this version of the app. You need to update the app to be able to answer it. You will leave this question unanswered. and an I understand checkbox.
The message means your app is out of date. Update the app, and the question appears in its intended format.

💡 Why this matters: New question types are added to Mobaro over time. An out-of-date app can't show them, so the check can't be completed as designed. The message makes sure nobody skips a question without knowing, and the Result records that it happened.
What you see
Only the answer part of the question is replaced. The question title, explanatory text, manuals and reference images still show, and you can add images and comments if the question allows them.
What to do
Recommended: leave the Checklist and save your progress, update the app, then continue the Checklist. The question now shows in its intended format.
If you can't update now (for example, you're offline): tick I understand and continue. The question is left unanswered, so update the app as soon as you can.
How it shows on the Result
If you ticked I understand, the Result in the Backend shows This question was not answered because the mobile app did not support the question type. for that question.
Content older apps don't receive
Some newer Checklist content isn't sent to older app versions at all, so there's no message. On an older app:
Select Question Groups are left out of the Checklist.
Show/hide logic is ignored, so every question and page shows.
Assignments with more than one Assignee, Assignments with attachments other than images, Assignments that use an Assignment Definition, and Asset Schedules aren't shown.
Peer-assessment Certification Processes aren't available.
🛑 Critical: If a Checklist on a device doesn't match the Checklist in the Backend — questions missing, or questions showing that should be hidden — don't complete safety or pre-opening checks on that device. Update the app first.
If your app is too old for Mobaro to support, it shows Required update available. Tap Update App.
Update the app
The Mobaro app gets updates in two ways:
App store updates — new versions from the App Store or Google Play.
In-app updates — smaller updates the app downloads in the background while you're online. When one is ready, a download icon appears in the header of the home screen: tap it, then tap Install Now. The app restarts.
See How to download and update the Mobaro mobile app for the full steps.
ℹ️ Note: A Windows version of the app is listed in the Microsoft Store, but it's an older version than the iOS and Android apps and doesn't get in-app updates. Contact Mobaro Support before you rely on it.
Best practices
Turn on automatic updates in the app store, or push new versions through your device management system, so every device stays current.
Update devices before you publish a Checklist that uses a new question type, and before busy periods such as the start of a season.
Don't tick I understand on safety-critical checks. Update the app and complete the question as designed.
Install in-app updates when the download icon appears.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know I have the latest version of the app?
Open your profile from the home screen and check App Version and Deploy Version. If your app store shows Update for Mobaro, install it; if a download icon shows in the home-screen header, tap it. See How to download and update the Mobaro mobile app.
Why does a checklist look different on my phone than in the Backend?
Your app is probably out of date. Older app versions don't receive Select Question Groups or show/hide logic, and there's no warning. Update the app, then open the Checklist again.
Can I use the Mobaro app on a Windows tablet?
Contact Mobaro Support first. The Windows version in the Microsoft Store is older than the iOS and Android apps and doesn't get in-app updates, so newer question types may show as unsupported. On a computer, use the Backend in your browser.
Can someone fill in the unanswered question afterwards?
Often, yes. If the question was skipped with I understand, a Super User or a user with Results › Modify can edit that answer on the completed Result in the Backend, for most question types — see Modify Checklist Results. Signature and Water Quality answers can't be edited.
