Set up a guest feedback station

Turn a short Checklist into a repeatable tablet survey, test the reset behavior and choose the right way to report ratings.

Written by Logan Bowlby

Overview

A guest feedback station uses a short Checklist on a shared tablet. A Continuous Schedule can restart it after each completed response and reset it after inactivity.

Staff set up and start the Checklist in the signed-in Mobile app. This workflow does not create a public survey URL or separate Mobaro accounts for guests.

💡 Why this matters: A short, repeatable survey makes feedback easier to collect at the point of experience and keeps it tied to the intended Location.

Prepare the survey

1. Choose one clear question

Create a Checklist with a concise title and question text. A Smiley Question suits a quick satisfaction rating; see Smiley Question setup. Keep any follow-up questions short enough for a guest to complete at the station.

2. Choose the rating method

Use a simple Smiley scale for a satisfaction measure. If you want NPS reporting, choose the Smiley question’s NPS scale and an appropriate recommendation question. A three- or five-face satisfaction scale is not interchangeable with the NPS response scale.

3. Review the whole guest view

Check explanatory text, required questions and any comments or attachment options. Ask only for information you intend to collect. Responses are recorded through the signed-in User’s session; do not treat that account as the identity of each guest.

Create the Continuous Schedule

1. Set the Checklist and Location

Go to Schedules › Create › Continuous Schedule. Add the survey in What?, select the station’s Location in Where? and assign the User or User Group that will run the station in Who?. The signed-in User also needs access to that Location.

2. Choose the station behavior

Automatically advance pages

Enable timeout

Require password to exit

Require the configured password to leave the Checklist

Set a timeout that allows guests to read and answer. Staff responsible for the station need the exit password. See Continuous Schedule settings for the full setup.

⚠️ Heads-up: Require password to exit controls leaving the Checklist. It is not a tablet-wide device-management or operating-system kiosk policy. Ask your device administrator to configure any required restrictions outside Mobaro.

Test before opening the station

On the actual tablet, sign in as the intended User, refresh the app and open the survey under Continuous Checklists. Confirm the Location before collecting responses.

  • Complete a test response and confirm the next response starts fresh.

  • Leave a partially answered response idle and check the timeout behavior.

  • Check that staff can exit with the configured password.

  • Confirm a completed test Result reaches the Backend.

  • Check that the tablet’s network, power and physical placement suit the station.

Keep test responses identifiable so the reporting owner can exclude them appropriately. If work has been collected offline, let it upload before judging the response count. See offline use.

Report the responses

Use Results filters for the survey Checklist, Location and reporting period. Decide whether you are measuring response volume, a satisfaction rating or NPS, and keep the scale consistent across comparisons.

For NPS, configure the relevant Dashboard widget with the survey’s Checklist and question. See NPS Score Development. For a standard Checklist score, use understanding Checklist scores. A Checklist percentage and an NPS value represent different calculations.

Best practices

  • Test the full guest and staff-exit journey on the real device.

  • Keep the question and scale consistent when comparing periods.

  • Review uploads and response counts during the day.

Frequently asked questions

Can we create a survey for guests?

Yes. This workflow uses a Checklist on a signed-in shared tablet. For availability throughout the day, use a Continuous Schedule.

Can I use the Checklist score as NPS?

No. Use an appropriate NPS question and NPS reporting widget. A Checklist percentage is a separate score; see how scores are calculated.

Does Mobaro replace an Android kiosk or device-management tool?

No. The exit password applies to the Checklist. Your device administrator handles restrictions on the tablet’s other apps and system controls.
