Document a repair with before-and-after evidence

Keep the original fault, repair notes and resolution photos together on one Assignment for a clearer maintenance record.

Written by Logan Bowlby

Overview

Use the Assignment as the record of a repair: what was found, what changed and what was checked before completion. Keep the original evidence and add the repair outcome rather than overwriting the history.

Who can do this

Users with access to the Assignment; resolving needs the applicable assignee, creator or modification authority and any Definition restrictions.

💡 Why this matters: A clear before-and-after record helps the next technician understand the work without asking the person who did it.

Before you start

Confirm the Assignment is for the right Location and Asset and whether a linked Downtime or supervisor sign-off is involved. Follow the actual maintenance and return-to-service procedure; a photo or Finished status does not establish that the work is safe.

Walkthrough

1. Record the fault and initial evidence

Open the Assignment and check the Title and Description against the defect. Add available before photos to its Attachments and describe the affected component. If it came from a Checklist, review that origin Result rather than assuming every source image was copied onto the task.

2. Keep progress in the activity feed

Add a comment describing work in progress, parts or inspections still needed and any restrictions. Mention the responsible colleague when useful, after checking their Location access. Comments are permanent once sent, so check the wording before sending.

3. Write the resolution

When authorized to finish, use the resolution action. In the mobile app’s Resolve Assignment dialog, describe the repair and the checks performed in the resolution description. Follow the Definition’s permitted final state and documentation requirements.

4. Attach the after evidence before confirming

Add the after photos in the resolution dialog’s Attachments, then confirm only when the actual work is complete. Check the saved resolution in the Backend and complete any separate Downtime review or operational handover.

Check the outcome

Resolution text and its attachments cannot be edited afterwards. Add supplementary comments or files to the Assignment in the Backend when needed. Reopening and resolving again creates a further history entry and can affect readiness; use the resolution guide deliberately.

Best practices

  • Use similar framing for before and after photos.

  • Name the component and the checks performed.

  • Keep recording the repair separate from authorizing reopening.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a photo after resolving the Assignment?

Add it to the Assignment’s Attachments in the Backend or add an explanatory comment. You cannot edit the original resolution attachment set.

Can I edit the resolution wording?

No. Add a correction as a comment, or reopen and resolve again when that workflow is justified. Both resolutions remain in the activity history.

Does resolving maintenance reopen the ride?

Resolving the work and operating the ride are separate actions. Follow the Operator workflow and your site’s approved handover procedure.
