Set Material prices and review Warehouse value

Enter unit prices in configured currencies and understand Warehouse values, unpriced Materials and the effect of exchange rates.

Written by Logan Bowlby

Overview

Give each Material a price per unit and a currency. Mobaro uses those prices and your organization’s exchange rates to show the value of positive stock in each Warehouse.

Availability

Early access — contact your CSM

🚀 Early access: Inventory must be enabled for your organization. Ask your CSM about access to these controls.

Before you enter prices

Set the accounting currency in Organization › Configuration › Currencies. Add any other currencies you need there. Only configured currencies can be used for Material prices.

Where Inventory permissions are enforced, opening Materials needs Materials › View and editing an existing Material needs Materials › Modify. Creating one needs Materials › Create. Stock visibility can also affect which Warehouse values you see. Ask your Super User to check your Role if a control is missing.

Set a Material price

1. Open the Material

In Inventory, select the Material and click Edit, or double-click its row. To create the Material first, use Materials and categories.

2. Enter the unit price

Fill in Price per unit and select Currency. The price is for one unit of the quantity you record as stock. For example, if stock counts individual bearings, enter the price of one bearing.

3. Save the Material

Click Save at the top of the Material page. Required Material fields must also be complete. A Material without an existing price starts with the accounting currency selected.

Entry

Meaning

Empty price

No price is recorded. Positive stock is counted as Unpriced and excluded from value.

0

An explicit zero price. It is priced stock with zero value.

Positive price

A unit price used to calculate Warehouse value.

Prices cannot be negative. Enter up to ten digits before the decimal point and four after it, with a maximum of 9,999,999,999.9999. To remove a price, clear Price per unit and save. Selecting a currency alone does not give the Material a price.

Read Warehouse values

1. Open Warehouses

Go to Inventory › Warehouses. After currency setup, the table includes Value, labeled with your accounting currency, and Unpriced.

2. Check the unpriced count

Review Unpriced before using a Warehouse’s value. It counts different Materials with positive stock and no price, not the number of units. Open those Materials in Inventory and enter prices if you want them included.

Column or display

What it means

Value (currency)

Positive stock quantity × current unit price, converted at current configured rates.

Unpriced

Number of Materials with positive stock but no price. A zero count is left blank.

A dash in Value

No priced positive-stock rows contribute to this Warehouse.

Both value cells blank

Stock visibility restrictions can prevent a Warehouse’s values from being shown.

Without an accounting currency, the value columns are hidden. Zero and negative stock quantities are excluded from the calculation. Displayed values use the accounting currency’s decimal format.

⚠️ Heads-up: Warehouse value is a current valuation. Changing a Material price or exchange rate can change the value without any stock movement. It does not show the historical purchase cost or cost of Materials consumed on an Assignment.

Check a mixed-currency example

A Warehouse has 24 bearings at EUR 12.50 each and 10 fuses at USD 5 each. With 1 EUR = 1.10 USD, the bearings contribute USD 330 and the fuses USD 50. The total is USD 380. Any unpriced Materials are excluded.

Keep the unit consistent. A price per box combined with stock counted as individual items gives an incorrect valuation. Changing the price does not change the recorded stock quantity; use Adjusting and transferring stock to correct quantities.

If price entry is disabled

A disabled price field with Prices need an accounting currency. means currency setup is missing. The link below the field opens organization configuration. Someone with Organization › Administrate can complete the setup.

Best practices

  • Choose one stock unit per Material and price that unit consistently.

  • Check Unpriced before treating a Warehouse value as complete.

  • Agree who maintains prices and exchange rates; review both when costs change.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import prices with the Inventory workbook?

No. The Inventory workbook import does not populate Material prices or currencies. Set currencies first, then enter prices in the Backend after import. See Importing your Inventory data.

Why can’t I choose the currency I need?

The Material currency picker only includes currencies configured for your organization. Ask someone with Organization › Administrate to add the currency and its exchange rate.

Can the same Material have different prices in each Warehouse?

No. Price per unit belongs to the Material. Each Warehouse uses that price with its own positive stock quantity.

Can I export historical costs from Movements?

No. Movements reports stock quantities. The Warehouse value uses current prices and rates; it is not a historical cost ledger.
