Overview

The Select Question Group is an advanced version of the Select Question that allows users to group multiple related questions under a single header while maintaining consistent response options across all items. This structure reduces clutter in reporting and streamlines data collection.

Unlike a standard Select Question, the Title serves as an overarching question, and individual Lines represent separate items that users evaluate. Each line uses the same selectable options, but they are displayed as distinct entries on the app.

This question type supports both Single Choice (one answer per item) and Multiple Choice (multiple selections per item).

When to Use a Select Question Group

  • Condensed Reporting – When multiple related checks share the same answer set and need to be reported in a unified format.

  • Operational Inspections – For routine inspections where multiple components (e.g., multiple safety checks on a ride) need the same response choices.

  • Compliance and Quality Control – When tracking similar conditions across different assets or processes.

Example Use Case:

A Station Checks form could use a Select Question Group where all line items (e.g., "Check station lights," "Check station gates," "Check station fans") share the same Pass/Fail answer options.

How to Configure a Select Question Group

Add the Question

Go to your checklist and add a Select Question Group.

Enter the Title (this should be the overall category of the grouped items) and Explanatory Text if needed for clarification.

Choose the Selection Type

  • Single Choice – Users can select only one option per line item.

  • Multiple Choice – Users can select multiple options per line item.

Define Answer Options

Add the available selection options (e.g., "OK" and "Not OK") and ssign points to each response if applicable.

Add Line Items

Each Line represents an individual check or sub-question under the group. Users will select one of the predefined options for each line.

Reporting Benefits

The key advantage of using a Select Question Group is improved reporting clarity. Instead of individual Select Questions cluttering reports, this format consolidates data into a structured, easy-to-read output.

FAQs

Q: How is this different from adding multiple Select Questions?

A: The Select Question Group consolidates related items into a structured format, reducing redundancy and making reporting more readable.

Q: Can I assign different response options to each line item?

A: No, all Lines must share the same answer options. If different responses are needed, separate Select Questions should be used instead.

Q: Can I apply triggers to individual line items?

A: Yes, triggers are applied at the line level, allowing for custom actions based on responses.
