Overview
Import Templates turn Source Table values into the titles and descriptions of new Mobaro Assignments. A template can combine fixed wording with values from each Import Row.

Build and preview the templates
1. Choose a title template
Open Project Settings using its toolbar icon. Under Import Templates, place the caret in Title template. Click a name under Source Table columns to insert its token at the caret.
Example: maintenance work. With a Work item column, click its Work item button to use that column’s values as titles. To add fixed wording, type Inspect: first and insert the Work item token after it. Tokens contain the column name inside two opening and two closing braces, as shown in the image. The title editor allows up to 250 characters in the template itself. Keep the expanded titles short too; a token may insert a longer value.
2. Set empty-value wording
Use Empty template value for a replacement when a matching source cell is blank, or leave it blank to omit that value. A token naming a column that does not exist resolves to empty text; it does not use the fallback.
3. Build the description
Use Description template for the work details. Insert column tokens into that field. The toolbar supports bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, Apply Color and Insert Link. Select text before applying formatting or a link.
4. Review different Import Rows
Check Description preview. Use the previous/next Import Row arrows to review several examples, especially rows with blank values. If appropriate, turn on Mark description as read-only in Mobaro. This is off by default. Choose Save Project after your changes.
⚠️ Heads-up: A title that resolves to blank leaves the Import Row incomplete unless it already has a saved row title. Unknown tokens disappear from the generated text. Check the column names and row status before importing.
Best practices
Use column buttons to avoid misspelling token names.
Review the longest source values and blank cells, not just the first row.
Use read-only descriptions only when the original imported wording should be protected from editing in Mobaro.
Frequently asked questions
Why is an old title still being used?
A nonblank rendered template takes precedence. If the template renders blank, Assignment Importer can fall back to a title already saved on the Import Row. Enter the intended nonblank template and review readiness before importing.
Do column tokens distinguish uppercase and lowercase?
No. Column lookup is case-insensitive and trims header whitespace. Use unique headers so a token identifies one column; the first matching header wins when names are duplicated.
Will changing a template update existing Mobaro Assignments?
No. Import Templates are used when creating Assignments. Created Import Rows are locked and are not re-imported to update their Assignments.
