Overview
Assignment Importer captures the first worksheet of an Excel workbook as a Source Table. Each data row becomes an Import Row that you can prepare for Mobaro. Creating the Import Project does not create Assignments.

Prepare the workbook
Use an .xlsx or .xlsm workbook. CSV and legacy .xls are not offered by the file picker.
Put the import data on the first worksheet, beginning in column A. Put one set of unique, meaningful column names in the first used row, followed by one Assignment’s data per row.
Remove report titles, merged header layouts, blank rows within the data and totals from the import area. Rows between the first and last used rows are read, including blank rows.
Use columns such as Work item, Details and Files. These names are examples, not mandatory headers. You choose title/description tokens and the attachment column later.
Review the values as displayed in Excel: the reader uses formatted cell text. Blank headers become Column 1, Column 2 and so on; duplicate names make token-based templates ambiguous.
Create the Import Project
1. Open New Project
From the project picker, choose New Project.
2. Set the local file details
Enter a Title, an optional Description, the Project file (.mobproj) location and the Excel file. Use Browse to select paths. Choose a new .mobproj filename in a folder you can write to. The Title names the local Import Project, not each Assignment.
3. Set attachment options if needed
Turn on This Excel file maps attachments only if your workbook references files. Choose Attachments folder, Attachment filename column and Reference mode. The initial choices are Single file per column or Multiple files per column (semicolon separated).
4. Create the local Import Project
Optionally add and test the API key, then choose Create Project. The app reads the workbook and opens the mapping screen. With a usable API key, reference data loads automatically. For a workbook over 50 MiB or an attachment folder over 2,000 files, review the warning and choose Create Project again if you want to continue.
⚠️ Heads-up: The Source Table is captured in the Import Project. Editing the original workbook later does not refresh an existing Import Project. Excel file is read-only in Project Settings. Create a separate Import Project for a revised workbook and exclude work already imported.
Best practices
Keep an unchanged copy of the workbook used for each import.
Use unique headers and check a few sample rows before mapping the whole file.
Frequently asked questions
Why is Create Project unavailable?
Complete Title, Project file (.mobproj) and Excel file. When attachments are enabled, also provide Attachments folder and Attachment filename column.
Why did the app read the wrong worksheet?
Assignment Importer reads the first worksheet. Move the intended sheet first in Excel, save the workbook and create a new Import Project.
Can I move the workbook after creating the Import Project?
Yes, once the Source Table is saved inside the Import Project. Older files without an embedded Source Table still need the original workbook when opened.
