Overview
Assignment Importer is a separate desktop app for preparing Assignments from Excel. You prepare a local Import Project, connect it to Mobaro and create Assignments from the Import Rows you choose.

Get ready
Ask your CSM for the approved installer or download for your computer. The supported packaging targets are Windows x64 and macOS Apple Silicon. Follow the instructions supplied with that download. Your Mobaro account signs you into the app; your Import Project’s API key connects the import to an organization.
Ask your organization administrator for a dedicated API key that can create Assignments. A read-only key cannot import. A write-enabled key has broad organization access, so treat it like a password. API key setup is covered in Creating and managing API keys.
Sign in and connect
1. Sign in to the app
Open Assignment Importer. If Preparing for first use... appears, wait for preparation to finish. Choose Use another account, or Continue beside a remembered account. Complete the fresh sign-in verification. Windows can use an in-app dialog; macOS continues in your default browser.
2. Use browser sign-in if needed
Choose Open in browser if the in-app sign-in does not open or complete. If a sign-in is already running, use Cancel Login before trying again. Return to Assignment Importer after completing sign-in.
3. Create or open an Import Project
Choose New Project to start from an Excel workbook, or Open Existing Project to open a saved .mobproj file.
4. Test the organization API key
In New Project, fill in Mobaro API key (recommended) and choose Test connection. For an existing Import Project, use Project Settings › Mobaro API › Mobaro API key.
⚠️ Heads-up: Test connection checks a read request. “Connection succeeded. The API key is valid.” does not confirm permission to create Assignments. Check the organization and write access before an Import Run.
Best practices
Keep the API key in a secure store and enter it only in the key field.
Start with a small, reviewed import before preparing a large batch.
Frequently asked questions
Does signing in choose the organization for my import?
The Import Project’s API key determines the Mobaro organization used for reference data and import. Signing into Assignment Importer does not replace that key.
Can I prepare an Import Project without an API key?
Yes. The API key is optional when creating an Import Project. Add it in Project Settings before loading fresh Mobaro Reference Data or importing.
Does Forget from this app sign me out everywhere?
No. Forget from this app removes the local remembered-account card. It does not clear your external browser or identity-provider sessions.
