Save, reopen and recover Import Projects

Keep local import work, reopen saved projects and handle protected API keys when moving files or switching accounts.

Overview

An Import Project is a local .mobproj file. It can hold the captured Source Table, Row Mappings, embedded attachments, cached Mobaro Reference Data and saved created Assignment IDs. Keep that file to continue the same import safely.

At a glance

Who can do this

Active Mobaro Users; a write-enabled organization API key is needed to import.

Save and reopen your work

1. Save the current Import Project

Choose Save Project in the toolbar, or use the displayed Ctrl+S shortcut. Check No unsaved changes after saving. An asterisk beside the Import Project title and Unsaved Changes indicate changes still need saving.

2. Handle the leave prompt

If Save changes? appears when leaving, choose Save to keep changes, Cancel to remain, or Discard to leave without saving them.

🛑 Critical: After an Import Run, save before leaving. Discarding unsaved created IDs does not undo the Assignments in Mobaro and can make a later retry duplicate them.

3. Reopen the saved file

On the project picker, choose Open in Recent Projects, or Open Existing Project to locate the .mobproj file. If a recent entry says Unavailable (offline), make the file available locally or open its new location. Remove removes a recent-list entry; it does not delete the file.

Move or recover an Import Project

To change the signed-in account, open the toolbar Account menu and choose Switch account, or Sign out and forget from this app to remove the current local remembered account as well. Finish active work and save first. Save and close the Import Project before copying it. The embedded Source Table allows a current saved file to reopen without its original workbook. Embedded attachments can also travel with the file, but files that were never embedded still need accessible source files. Keep the original until you have checked the copy.

4. Handle a protected API key

If the saved key belongs to another account or cannot be unlocked, follow the account-recovery prompt. Use the original account where appropriate, or choose Open without API key when offered. This preserves the existing protected key material until you explicitly replace or clear the key in Project Settings.

A project opened without a usable key can retain preparation data, but loading fresh Mobaro Reference Data and importing require a valid key. Treat the .mobproj file as sensitive: protection of the key is not whole-file encryption of the Source Table or attachments. If the app says the file was saved by a newer version, update Assignment Importer before opening it.

Best practices

  • Keep one working copy with the latest saved Mobaro IDs.

  • Back up .mobproj files before destructive local changes or attachment scans.

  • Share Import Projects through an approved secure route.

Frequently asked questions

Does Remove in Recent Projects erase the import?

No. Remove deletes the recent-list entry only. Use Open Existing Project to open the .mobproj file again.

Does Open without API key erase the stored key?

No. The protected key material stays unchanged until you explicitly replace or clear the key in Project Settings. Saving unrelated project changes preserves it.

Can I keep preparing rows without an internet connection?

An already-open Import Project can use its captured Source Table and cached reference data. Fresh sign-in, reference-data reloads and Import Runs need their online services; do not rely on fully offline startup.
