Overview
A Photo Question asks the User to take a photo with the device camera — visual proof for inspections, documentation and compliance. The photo becomes the question's answer and is stored on the Result.
A Photo Question supports logic, but not triggers: a photo has no value that a condition could test. To require a photo only for certain answers, use a Requirement trigger on the question being answered instead.

💡 Why this matters: A photo shows the actual condition at the moment of the check, not someone's description of it. For safety and compliance items, a Photo Question turns "marked complete" into "here's the proof" — exactly what an audit or incident review needs.
When to use a Photo Question
Verification of work — proof of completed maintenance, repairs or safety checks, such as a photo of a secured restraint.
Compliance and incident reporting — document an issue or a completed task.
Quality assurance — visual confirmation of conditions during audits.
Add a Photo Question
1. Add the question
In the Backend, go to Checklists, open the Checklist in the editor, click Add an element and choose Photo Question.
2. Say what to capture
Give the question a Title that states exactly what to photograph, and add Explanatory Text if it helps — for example, "Take a photo showing the completed repair". Then save the Checklist.

Taking the photo in the app
The User taps the question to open the camera. Each Photo Question holds one photo, and it must be taken with the camera — the device gallery isn't offered for the answer. Before completing the Checklist, the User can tap the photo to Edit Image (mark it up), Replace Image or Remove Image.
A visible Photo Question counts as unanswered until it has a photo, so the Checklist can't be completed without one.
Reporting and review
Once the Checklist is completed, the photo is part of the Result and can be reviewed in Results, the Gallery or on Dashboards, depending on your setup.
ℹ️ Note: Once the Checklist is submitted, the photo can't be changed in the app. A User with Results › Modify can replace it, or delete the answer, from the Result in the Backend; every change is logged in the Result's history. See Modify Checklist Results.
Best practices
Make the title specific ("Photo of the restraint lock engaged"), so photos are comparable from one Result to the next.
Add a reference image showing what a good photo looks like.
Use logic to show a Photo Question only when a photo is needed, rather than asking for one on every Checklist.
Frequently asked questions
Can users upload a photo from their gallery instead of taking one?
No, not for the Photo Question itself — its photo must be taken with the camera. Extra photo attachments on a question can come from the gallery if Allow attachments from device gallery is ticked under Action Menu Options.
Can you tell if a picture was uploaded rather than taken on the spot?
Yes, for photo attachments. In the Result report in the Backend, attachments show a camera icon when they were taken with the camera and an image icon when they came from the device gallery.
Can I take more than one photo on a Photo Question?
No. Each Photo Question holds one photo. Add a Photo Question per item, such as one per terrace, or tick Allow attachments from the camera on a related question so Users can attach several photos there.
Can I add an N/A option to a photo question?
No. A visible Photo Question always needs a photo. To make it conditional, use logic so it only shows when it applies, or use a Requirement trigger on the related question.
Can a photo be removed or replaced after the checklist is submitted?
Not in the app. In the Backend, a User with Results › Modify can replace the photo or delete the answer from the Result, and the change is logged. See Modify Checklist Results.
