Overview
Start with the evidence the reviewer needs, then choose the Checklist controls that collect it. A photograph required on every inspection, an image required only for a failed answer and an optional extra photo are three different designs.
This guide helps you choose and combine those designs before you build a photo-heavy inspection.

A Photo Question holds one image taken with the device camera. A visible question needs an answer before completion. For condition-based evidence, place a Requirement Trigger on a supported question such as a Select Question. See Photo Questions and Requirement Triggers.
Build the capture instructions
1. Describe the required view
Give each image a purpose. For example, “Photograph the cleaned work surface, including the left and right edges.” Put additional instructions in Explanatory Text. If two views are always required, add two clearly named Photo Questions.
2. Add a visual example
Use Reference Images on the question to show the framing you want. Reference material helps staff understand the task; it is not their submitted evidence.
3. Set conditional evidence
For a Select Question such as “Is the work surface clean?”, add a Requirement Trigger for the answer that needs supporting evidence. Choose Photo, and Comment if the reviewer also needs an explanation. Saving a different answer that no longer meets the condition removes that requirement.
4. Decide whether stored photos are allowed
Review Allow attachments from device gallery in the question’s Action Menu Options. This controls photo attachments, including a triggered photo requirement. It does not change the camera-only answer of a Photo Question.
Plan the review
Ask a reviewer to inspect representative completed Results: the normal path, an exception and any conditional photo path. Check whether the images show enough detail and whether the question wording identifies the item photographed.
Use Results when you need the answers, comments and inspection context together. Use Gallery to browse images across work and filter or categorize them. See using the Gallery and Gallery Categories.

ℹ️ Note: A photo records an image supplied during the workflow. Its presence alone does not establish that every inspection step was performed correctly. Keep the questions and review process specific to the work.

Frequently asked questions
Can I add an N/A option to a Photo Question?
No. Use logic to show it only when relevant, or a Requirement Trigger on another question. See Photo Questions.
Can one Photo Question hold several photos?
No. Use a Photo Question per required view, or enable photo attachments on a related question for additional images. See Photo Question limits.
Can I organize Gallery pictures into folders?
Use File Categories and Gallery filters to organize images. They are separate from Checklist folders. See Gallery Categories and filtering.
