Overview
An Assignment Trigger responds to an answer on a Checklist question. If the expected work is missing, trace the answer, the trigger condition and what the person completing the Checklist saw.
First establish whether the Assignment was created. A missing email and a missing Assignment are different problems.

Confirm the trigger source
1. Open the right Checklist
Confirm that the Schedule uses the Checklist you edited. Open the specific question and inspect its Assignment Trigger. Check the answer or condition that should activate it, including the relevant choice on questions with several options.
2. Compare the actual answer
Record the answer given during the affected run. The trigger needs a matching answer; an unanswered Checklist or a missed deadline is not the same event. For setup, see Assignment Triggers.
3. Check the creation flow
By default, the person sees a prefilled Assignment and confirms it. Establish whether they completed that step. If you configured creation without user intervention, review the required prefilled title and assignee using the setup guide.
If an existing matching Assignment is offered, check whether the person linked that work instead of creating a new item. Search for the linked Assignment before repeating the test.
Check overlapping triggers
Do not assume that several matching Assignment Triggers on the same question create several new Assignments. The app evaluates applicable triggers and avoids repeating an Assignment Trigger already handled for that condition. Review the order and overlap of the conditions with a controlled test.
Use a test Checklist and Schedule when checking several answer paths. Record the chosen answer and whether the app offered new work or an existing Assignment. For duplicate-work handling, see linking existing Assignments.

An Assignment raised from the Checklist starts with that Checklist’s Location and Asset context. Do not assume a trigger can independently redirect it to an unrelated Asset.
ℹ️ Note: Subscribers and notification settings control communication about work. An Assignment can exist even when the expected person receives no email. Use troubleshooting missing notifications once creation is confirmed.
Collect one reproducible example
Send Support the Checklist, question, trigger condition, Schedule and target, plus the time of the affected answer. Include whether the user saw a confirmation screen or existing Assignment suggestion. If work was created, include its link.

Test each meaningful answer path before putting a new trigger into operational use.

Frequently asked questions
Can an Assignment Trigger run when a Checklist is not submitted on time?
No. An Assignment Trigger responds to a question answer, not the absence of a submitted Result. See handling missing Results.
Can a trigger target an Asset that the Checklist does not target?
The triggered Assignment starts with the Checklist’s target context. Do not rely on an unrelated Asset being selected automatically; review the intended workflow with your administrator.
The trigger created an Assignment, but why did I get no email?
Creation succeeded, so check subscribers and notification settings next. Follow troubleshooting missing notifications rather than adding another trigger.
