Overview
Assignment definitions help you standardize how assignments behave, including which categories are used and what each status or priority means.
In some cases, you may need to move assignments from one definition to another — for example, when reorganizing departments or introducing new workflows.
When changing an assignment’s definition, you’ll be asked to remap categories, statuses, and priorities from the original definition to the new one. This ensures assignments continue to behave correctly in dashboards, reporting, filtering, and the app.
Note: This process can only be completed in the Mobaro web backend and requires either:
Super user access, or
Users who can administer the organization
Change the assignment definition
Open the assignments page
Go to Assignments in the backend and locate the assignment(s) you want to update.
Select one or more assignments
Use the checkbox to choose a single assignment, or select multiple assignments to update several at once.
Open the actions menu
Click the Change Assignment Definition icon at the top of the table.
Choose the new assignment definition
From the dropdown at the top of the dialog, select the assignment definition you want to move these assignments to.
Remap categories, statuses, and priorities
When you change the assignment definition, the system will ask you to map fields from the old definition to the new one.
This ensures the assignment continues to work with the correct workflow.
Category mappings
Match each original category to the corresponding category in the new definition
(or choose Remove Category if it’s no longer needed).
If a category exists in the old definition but not the new one, you may need to edit the new assignment definition first to add equivalent categories.
Status mappings
Map how an assignment’s progress state should translate into the new workflow.
For example:
Created → Open
Started → In Progress
Finished → Completed
This ensures assignments continue appearing correctly in progress dashboards and filters.
Priority mappings
If priorities differ between definitions, select which priority level each should become.
For example:
Urgent → P1
High → P2
Normal → P3
Save your changes
When everything is mapped, click Save. Changes apply immediately.
If multiple assignments were selected, all will now follow the new assignment definition and workflow.
