Overview
A Number Question captures a numeric value — a pressure reading, a count, a measurement. You can bound it with a minimum and maximum, control decimal places, attach a measurement unit, and use score intervals so readings outside an acceptable band score low and stand out in reporting.

Why this matters: A number captured as free text can't be validated, charted, or trended. A Number Question keeps the value structured — so you can bound it to a sensible range, score it against a target band, and report on it over time. That's the difference between "psi: 2900ish" in a comment and a clean, trendable reading.
Adding a Number Question
1. Open the Checklist editor
Go to Checklists in the Mobaro Backend and open or create a Checklist.
2. Add the element
Click Add an element and choose Number Question.
3. Set the title and configuration
Enter a Title and optional Explanatory Text, then set the numeric options below.
Configuration options
Option | What it does |
Minimum / Maximum | The lowest and highest values the field will accept, so an impossible reading can't be entered. |
Decimal scale | How many decimal places are allowed. Leave it for whole numbers, or set a scale for precise readings. |
Measurement unit | A unit shown alongside the value (for example psi, ppm, mph) so the reading is unambiguous. |
Score intervals | Bands that assign a score to ranges of values — for example, full marks inside the target band and zero outside it. |
Best practice: Set the minimum and maximum to the physically possible range, then use score intervals for the acceptable range inside it. Bounds stop typos; score intervals flag readings that are valid numbers but out of spec.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Can I require a specific range and fail anything outside it?
A: Use minimum/maximum to bound what can be entered, and score intervals to score the acceptable band full marks and everything else zero — failures then stand out in reporting.
Q: Can I raise an Assignment automatically when a reading is too high?
A: Yes. Add a trigger to the Number Question with a condition on the value — for example, raise an Assignment when the reading is above your limit. See Adding triggers to a Checklist.
Q: How do I capture decimals?
A: Set a decimal scale. Leave it unset for whole numbers only.
Q: Is this the right type for a temperature?
A: There's a dedicated Temperature Question for that — use it when the value is a temperature so units and scoring behave correctly.
