Overview
A Text Question captures an open-ended, free-text answer — a description, a note, a reference number. It's the right type when the response can't be pinned to fixed options. It supports show/hide logic, but because the answer is free-form there's nothing fixed to test, so it doesn't support triggers.
Users must be Super Users or have the following Role to add or edit Checklist questions:
Checklists: Modify or Create
Why this matters: Some answers genuinely need words — what was wrong, what was done, which work order. A Text Question captures that context on the Result so a reviewer isn't left guessing. Use it deliberately, though: free text can't be scored, trended, or trigger an action, so reserve it for detail that supports a structured answer rather than replacing one.
Adding a Text Question
1. Open the Checklist editor
In the Mobaro Backend, go to Checklists and open or create a Checklist.
2. Add a Text Question
Click Add an element and choose Text Question.
3. Set the title and explanatory text
Give the question a Title, and add Explanatory Text if the User needs instructions on what to write.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Can I create an automated alert from a Text Question answer?
A: No. Text Questions don't support triggers. If you need an action, pair the note with a Select question and trigger from that.
Q: Does the User have to fill it in?
A: Text Questions are required — a response must be entered before the Checklist can be completed.
Q: Can I add formatting to the response?
A: No. The field captures plain text. You can add explanatory text as the author to guide the response.
