Overview
Rulesets are the foundation of your water checks, so you'll occasionally need to edit one when requirements change, untick a parameter that no longer applies, or delete a ruleset that's no longer used.
Results that were already submitted aren't recalculated by any of these changes.

🚀 Early access: Water Quality is an early-access feature and may not be enabled for your account. Contact Mobaro Support to request access. Until it's enabled, the ruleset table and the Water Quality Question element don't appear.
💡 Why this matters: Because one ruleset drives validation across many Checklists, a change applies everywhere it's linked. That's useful for keeping limits current — and a reason to edit deliberately and tell staff about new limits.
Edit a ruleset
1. Open the ruleset
Go to Configuration and open the Checklists tab. The Water Quality ruleset table sits alongside the checklist category and folder tables (its title reads Checklist Water Quailty Ruleset). Select the ruleset and click the pencil icon (Edit Ruleset), or double-click the ruleset.
2. Make your changes
In the ruleset, you can:
Change the ruleset name.
Click a rule to expand it, then change its name, its Limit to (Location Groups), or the Minimum and Maximum of any ticked parameter.
Add a rule with the + button at the bottom (Add rule). New rules go to the end of the list.
Remove a rule with its trash icon (Remove rule). A ruleset always keeps at least one rule, so the icon only shows when there's more than one.
Click Save to apply your changes.
Rule order matters. When staff perform a Checklist, Mobaro uses the first rule in the list that either has no Location Groups or has a Location Group containing the Checklist's Location. Rules stay in the order they were added and can't be dragged into a new order, so add a rule with no Location Groups last — placed first, it catches every Location.
🛑 Critical: If no rule matches a Location, readings there aren't checked against any limits, and nothing warns you. Make sure every Location is covered — for example, end the ruleset with a rule that has no Location Groups.
Untick a parameter you don't need
If a parameter stops applying — you've switched disinfectants, or a requirement is dropped — untick its checkbox in the rule. When you save the ruleset, the parameter is removed from the rule. If you tick it again later, its fields are empty.
🛑 Critical: When you save, the Minimum and Maximum of an unticked parameter are discarded and can't be recovered. Write them down before you untick the parameter if you might need them again.
Unticking a parameter in the rule doesn't remove it from your Checklists. If staff still record it on a Water Quality Question, the reading is saved but no longer checked against limits for Locations that use this rule. To stop staff recording it, untick it on the question too.
Delete a ruleset
If you're replacing a Water Quality ruleset, create the new one and link it on your Water Quality Questions before deleting the old one, so there's no gap in validation.
1. Delete the ruleset
In the ruleset table, select the ruleset and click the trash icon (Delete Ruleset). The confirmation explains that Checklists that refer to the ruleset will have the ruleset removed. Click Delete to confirm.
🛑 Critical: Deleting a ruleset can't be undone. Every Water Quality Question linked to it is automatically set to no ruleset. The questions stay in your Checklists and staff can still enter readings, but those readings are no longer checked against any limits until you link another ruleset. Results that were already submitted are unaffected.
Best practices
When you change a limit, tell the affected staff which values now count as in range, so readings in the field and expectations stay aligned.
Edit a ruleset rather than deleting and recreating it whenever you can.
Keep a record of your limits outside Mobaro, including any you untick.
Document limit changes for your own records.
Frequently asked questions
I don't have permission to change a Water Quality limit. Who can?
Only Super Users can edit or delete Water Quality rulesets. Other users may see the ruleset table and its buttons, but saving fails with “The ruleset could not be edited”. Ask a Super User to make the change.
Can I stop checking one Water Quality parameter without losing its limits?
No. Unticking a parameter discards its limits when you save the ruleset. Note them down first so you can re-enter them later.
Will deleting a Water Quality ruleset remove past Results?
No. Submitted Results remain in your reporting. The ruleset can't be used again.
Can I restore a deleted Water Quality ruleset?
No. Create a new ruleset and link it on the Water Quality Questions that used the old one.
