Overview

This guide gets you started with the Mobaro app: installing it, signing in, finding your way around the home screen, completing your first Checklist and working offline.

The Mobaro app is the tool operators use during the working day to complete Checklists, work on Assignments, record Downtime and take photos. Administrators set things up in the web Backend; the app is where the work gets done.

Install the app

1. Open your app store

On iOS, open the App Store. On Android, open Google Play.

2. Search for Mobaro and install it

Install the app as you would any other, then open it.

If your organization manages its devices through a Mobile Device Management (MDM) tool, IT may install and update Mobaro for you. Check with them before installing it yourself on a managed device.

Sign in for the first time

Your administrator creates your user account in the Backend before you sign in. Depending on your organization, you sign in with your email or username and a password, or through single sign-on (SSO).

1. Enter your sign-in details

Enter your email or username and follow the prompts. If your organization uses SSO, you're taken to its sign-in page.

2. Allow permissions

When asked, allow access to the camera, photos and notifications. Mobaro uses them to take photos during Checklists, attach existing images, and alert you.

3. Wait for the first download

The app downloads your Checklists, Assignments, Locations and Library content. This takes from a few seconds to a couple of minutes, depending on your organization's setup.

⚠️ Heads-up: Sign in at least once while online before you rely on the app offline. The first download puts the data the app needs on your phone. See Working online versus offline with Mobaro.

The home screen

After you sign in, you land on the home screen. Which tiles you see depends on your organization's features and your access:

  • Checklists and Calendar: the Checklists assigned to you.

  • Assignments: work assigned to you or your team.

  • Library: manuals and other reference material.

  • Location Overview, Reports and Gallery: status, results and photos (online only).

  • Operations: open and close Locations and record Downtime; see Managing Downtime and uptime from the mobile app.

  • Certification Center: your Competencies and Certification Processes.

  • Support: chat with Mobaro Support.

  • The connection tile: CONNECTION AVAILABLE or CONNECTION LOST, and how many items are still uploading.

The header holds the notifications bell, your profile photo (tap it for your Profile) and the refresh icon.

Complete your first Checklist

1. Tap Checklists

From the home screen, tap Checklists.

2. Pick a Checklist

Your Checklists are listed with their Location and scheduled time. Tap one to open it.

3. Answer the questions

Work through the Checklist question by question. Question types take different inputs, such as text, numbers, photos, signatures and multiple choice. Photos you take are added to the Result and appear in the Gallery in the Backend.

4. Finish the Checklist

When you finish, the Result uploads straight away, or waits in the upload queue if you're offline.

Work offline

The app keeps working offline from the data on your phone. Any Checklist in your list opens offline. For Checklists with images or PDFs, swipe left on the Checklist and tap Download for offline while you're still online, so those files are on the phone.

Finished work uploads automatically as soon as the app can reach the server; the connection tile counts down the items still uploading. Online, the app refreshes your Checklists and Assignments when you use it and the data is more than 15 minutes old, or straight away when you tap the refresh icon in the header. For details, see Working online versus offline with Mobaro.

Worked examples

Morning pre-opening run. A ride operator arrives at 7:45 AM for checks before the 9:00 AM opening. They check the connection tile shows CONNECTION AVAILABLE, open Checklists, and complete the morning safety check, taking photos where asked. The Result uploads straight away. If it was the last critical-for-operation item outstanding, the Location turns Ready (green), and the photos appear in the Gallery.

Mid-day Downtime. A ride has to stop because of a brake warning. The operator taps Operations, taps the ride, then Start Downtime. They add a description, pick a category, take a photo of the warning, and tap Start. The Location closes and the Downtime shows on Dashboards. If your organization creates an Assignment for new Downtimes, maintenance receives one. Operations needs a live connection.

Working in a remote area. An operator heads to an area with poor signal. Before leaving, they refresh the app and download the Checklists with images they'll need. During the day the connection tile shows CONNECTION LOST while their finished Checklists queue up. Back at base, the queue uploads, and each Result keeps the time it was completed.

Best practices

  • Take photos wherever a Checklist allows it. They become evidence for audits, training and follow-up Assignments; see Use the Gallery to review images.

  • Refresh the app and download Checklists with images before you go somewhere with poor signal.

  • Check the connection tile shows No pending uploads before you hand over or sign out of a device.

  • Keep the app updated. Older app versions don't receive some newer content, such as Checklist question groups.

Frequently asked questions

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

Tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen. If your organization uses single sign-on, reset it through your organization instead. See Change or reset your Mobaro password.

Why can't I see my checklist in the app?

It appears only if you or your User Group is an assignee, at a Location you're a member of, and the slot starts within 6 days. Tap the refresh icon in the header. Still missing? Ask your supervisor to check the Schedule and your Location membership.

Where do I download the Mobaro app?

From the App Store on iPhone and iPad, or Google Play on Android; search for Mobaro. The app is for iOS and Android only. On a computer, use the Backend in your browser at app.mobaro.com.

Why don't I have the Operations tile?

It only appears if you can access a Location with Operational Logging turned on and you're allowed to change its state. See Managing Downtime and uptime from the mobile app.

My checklists aren't going through to Results. What do I do?

They're probably still in the upload queue; check the connection tile. Make sure the device has internet, keep the app open, and don't uninstall it. See Working online versus offline with Mobaro.

How often does the app sync?

Finished work uploads as soon as the app can reach the server; while it can't, the app keeps retrying, waiting up to about two minutes between tries. Your Checklists and Assignments refresh once they're more than 15 minutes old, or immediately when you tap the refresh icon in the header.
