Overview
Invalidating a Result takes it out of reporting — for example a test run, or a Checklist completed against the wrong ride. In the Backend the action is called Invalidate: it is how you delete a completed Result in Mobaro.
Invalidation is a soft delete, not a permanent one. The Result's answers are kept. Depending on its slot and the options you choose, the invalidated Result either becomes resumable again, or moves to Results › Invalidated Results — where, for Continuous Schedules and slots that haven't expired, it can be made resumable again later.

🛑 Critical: An invalidated Result no longer counts as done: if it came from a slot, that Checklist is open again in the slot, and the Result drops out of Results, dashboards and reports. If you invalidate a safety or pre-opening check, make sure it is resumed or rescheduled and completed before you rely on it.
What invalidation does
The Result leaves Results and stops counting in dashboards, reports and exports.
Its answers are kept, and the invalidation and your comment are recorded in the Result's history.
If the Result came from a Calendar or Ad Hoc slot, it is removed from that slot, so the Checklist counts as not done there.
You can invalidate up to 100 Results at a time.
What happens next depends on where the Result came from:
Result from | What happens |
A Continuous Schedule, or a Calendar or Ad Hoc slot that hasn't expired | The Checklist becomes available again for the assignees within the original deadline. By default it keeps its answers and becomes resumable; otherwise the Result moves to Invalidated Results. |
A slot that has expired | The Result appears as a Missing Result unless you reschedule it. Rescheduling creates a new Ad Hoc Slot. |
A Certification Process or RideOps | Can't be made resumable. The Result always moves to Invalidated Results. |
Invalidate a Result
1. Open Results
Go to Results in the Mobaro Backend.
2. Select the Results
Tick the checkbox of each Result you want to invalidate — up to 100 at a time.
3. Click Invalidate
Click Invalidate in the toolbar to open the Invalidate result(s) dialog.
4. Add a comment
Enter a Comment that explains why. It is required and stays in the Result's history.
5. Choose what happens next
Set the options for active and expired Results (see the next two sections), then click Invalidate. If you are rescheduling expired Results, click Configure Reschedule first.
Results from active slots
If your selection includes Results from a Continuous Schedule or from a slot that hasn't expired, the dialog tells you they will become available for the assignees to complete within the original deadline. You can also set:
Make the active invalidated results resumable — ticked by default. Assignees resume the Checklist with the answers already submitted, correct what was wrong and submit again. The Result doesn't move to Invalidated Results.
Untick it to start over: the Result moves to Invalidated Results and assignees complete the Checklist from scratch.
Message to the assignee (optional) — shown to the user who opens the Checklist.
ℹ️ Note: The user who performed the Result automatically gets a push notification when a Result from an active slot or a Certification Process is invalidated. You don't need to turn this on.
Results from expired slots
If a Result's slot has already ended, the dialog warns that the Result will appear as missing unless you reschedule it.
Reschedule the expired results — ticked by default if you have Results › Validate Missing and Schedules › Create. Click Configure Reschedule to set the new slot's times, Assignees, Reviewers, Reminders, Notify assignees when scheduled checklist(s) becomes available and compliance settings. The new slot is an Ad Hoc Slot.
Make the expired invalidated results resumable — available when you reschedule. Assignees continue in the new slot with the answers already submitted.
🛑 Critical: If you invalidate an expired Result without rescheduling it, the occurrence becomes a Missing Result and the invalidated Result can't be made resumable later. Reschedule whenever the check still needs to be on record.
Undo an invalidation
You can make an invalidated Result resumable again from Results › Invalidated Results, as long as it came from a Continuous Schedule or from a Calendar or Ad Hoc slot that hasn't expired. The option doesn't appear for other Results.
1. Open Invalidated Results
Go to Results › Invalidated Results.
2. Select the Result
Tick one Result.
3. Make it resumable
Click Make invalidated result resumable and confirm with Make Result Resumable. The Result becomes resumable, with its answers, for all users who can complete the Checklist through the original schedule. You need Results › Modify.
When to invalidate
Invalidate a Result when it shouldn't count at all:
A test or training run that ended up in live reporting.
A Checklist completed against the wrong Asset or Location that you can't simply move.
A Result submitted by a test account or the wrong person, where the work has to be redone.
⚠️ Heads-up: Don't invalidate a Result just because it failed or has an unwelcome answer. A failed Checklist is valid data — that is exactly what reporting is meant to show.
Before you invalidate, check whether a lighter action fits better:
Disapprove a real Result whose outcome isn't acceptable — see Disapproving Results.
Correct individual answers — see Modify Checklist Results.
Move a Result with Change result location or Change result user (Super Users) — see Viewing Checklist Results.
Best practices
Write a specific comment ("Test run during training, 12 May") rather than "wrong".
Keep Make the active invalidated results resumable ticked when only some answers were wrong, so assignees don't start from scratch.
Reschedule expired safety and compliance checks instead of leaving them missing.
Give Results › Delete only to the managers who should be able to invalidate Results.
Frequently asked questions
How do I delete a result?
Use Invalidate — it is how completed Results are deleted in Mobaro. Select the Result in Results, click Invalidate and add a comment. The Result leaves reporting but is kept, either as a resumable Result or under Results › Invalidated Results.
What's the difference between invalidating and disapproving a result?
Invalidating takes a Result out of reporting because it shouldn't count, such as a test run. Disapproving keeps a real Result in Results, marked Disapproved, because its outcome isn't acceptable. See Disapproving Results.
Can I undo an invalidation or get an invalidated result back?
Yes, if it came from a Continuous Schedule or from a slot that hasn't expired. In Results › Invalidated Results, select it and click Make invalidated result resumable (needs Results › Modify). It comes back as a resumable Result with its answers.
Can I reopen a checklist that was submitted by mistake?
Yes, while its slot is still active. Invalidate it with Make the active invalidated results resumable ticked: assignees can resume it with the submitted answers and submit it again before the deadline. If the slot has expired, reschedule it in the same dialog.
Why can't a user invalidate results?
The Invalidate button only appears for Super Users and for users whose Role has Results › Delete. Add that permission to their Role — see Set up Roles to manage permissions.
Can I permanently delete invalidated results?
No. Invalidated Results stay listed under Results › Invalidated Results and can't be removed further. They don't count in dashboards or reports.
