How to handle missing Results

What Missing Results are, how a Checklist becomes missing, where to find them, and your options: approve, reschedule, undo, or ignore missing results.

Written by Logan Bowlby

Overview

When a Calendar slot or Ad Hoc Slot ends and a Checklist wasn't submitted for one of its Locations (or Assets), Mobaro records a Missing Result. The Checklist disappears from the mobile app and is listed in Results › Missing Results until someone handles it.

This article explains how Checklists become missing, where you find them, and your options. For the full approve and reschedule walkthrough, see Approving or rescheduling missed Results.

How a Checklist becomes missing

Each Calendar slot or Ad Hoc Slot makes a Checklist available in the mobile app for a set time. Its availability changes as the slot moves on:

Slot state

In the mobile app

Future

Visible in the Calendar tile. Can be started early only if the slot has Allow early start.

Available, started or overdue

Can be completed from the Checklists tile.

Missing

Removed from the app. Can't be seen or completed.

Rescheduled

Available again in a new Ad Hoc Slot, from the Checklists tile.

A slot ends at its deadline, or at the end of its grace period if it has one. Only a submitted Checklist counts: progress saved to finish later, or a Checklist submitted for a different Location, doesn't stop a Missing Result. Continuous Schedules have no slots, so they never produce Missing Results — see Continuous schedules — setup and behavior.

Where Missing Results appear

Your options

  • Approve the Missing Result when the miss was acceptable — for example, the ride was closed.

  • Reschedule it when the work still has to happen. This creates a new Ad Hoc Slot.

  • Undo an approval or reschedule with Reject approval/reschedule for the missing result(s).

  • Prevent Missing Results on a Schedule or Ad Hoc Slot with Ignore missing results.

Missing Results can't be deleted. The original Missing Result always stays on record, marked as approved or rescheduled, with the comment you add.

Approve a Missing Result

  1. Go to Results › Missing Results.

  2. Tick the Missing Results to approve — up to 100 at a time.

  3. Click Approve missing result(s).

  4. In Approve Missing Result(s), enter a Comment, attach files if useful, and click Approve.

Reschedule a Missing Result

  1. In Results › Missing Results, tick the Missing Results to reschedule.

  2. Click Reschedule missing result(s) to open Configure Reschedule.

  3. On the Reason tab, optionally add a comment. If someone had started the Checklist, the Resumable Results tab lets you tick Allow assignees to continue unfinished results, so they finish it instead of starting again.

  4. Click Configure. On the Configuration tab, set the new times, the Assignees and Reviewers, and the compliance settings.

  5. Click Reschedule.

Rescheduling a Missing Result with the Configure Reschedule dialog

If the missed Checklist was critical for operation, the rescheduled one stays critical by default, so the Location stays not ready until it's completed. You can change this while you reschedule.

Undo an approval or reschedule

Select the handled Missing Result and click Reject approval/reschedule for the missing result(s), add a Comment and click Reject. It goes back to Missing; a rescheduled slot is removed if it hasn't started, or ended if it has. See Approving or rescheduling missed Results.

Ignore missing results

Tick Ignore missing results in a Schedule's or Ad Hoc Slot's compliance settings to stop it producing Missing Results. Use it sparingly: with nothing recorded, there's nothing to approve or reschedule, and no trace that the Checklist wasn't done.

🛑 Critical: Never combine Ignore missing results with Is critical for operation. Critical Checklists could go uncompleted with no record that they were missed, and Mobaro warns that this isn't a recommended configuration.

Missing Results in the mobile app

🚀 Early access: Approving and rescheduling Missing Results in the mobile app is an early-access feature. Ask your CSM if you'd like it turned on.

Where it is turned on, Reviewers find Missing Results under Review › Missing Results in the app and choose Approve or Reschedule. Rescheduling in the app also needs Super User access or Schedules › Create.

Best practices

  • Always add a specific comment, such as "Ride closed due to weather", never just "OK".

  • Reschedule, rather than approve, safety checks that still need to happen.

  • If the same Checklist keeps going missing, fix the Schedule instead of approving it every time.

  • Add Reviewers to every Schedule and Ad Hoc Slot so Missing Results don't depend on Super Users.

Frequently asked questions

My checklist disappeared from the app. Where did it go?

Its slot ended before it was submitted, so it became a Missing Result. Find it in Results › Missing Results in the Backend. To make it available again, reschedule it.

Can I still complete a checklist after it went missing?

Not in the original slot. Reschedule the Missing Result to create a new slot, and tick Allow assignees to continue unfinished results if someone had started it. See Approving or rescheduling missed Results.

How do I clear lots of missing results at once?

Select up to 100 in Results › Missing Results and click Approve missing result(s); one comment applies to all. See Approving or rescheduling missed Results.

Why is a checklist missing when it was completed?

It wasn't submitted for that Location or Asset within the slot. Common causes: the progress was saved to finish later but never submitted, or it was completed for another Location.

What does Ignore missing results do?

It stops a Schedule or Ad Hoc Slot from creating Missing Results. Completed Checklists still become Results as normal; uncompleted ones leave no record. Don't use it on critical-for-operation Checklists.

Can managers get notified about missed checklists?

Yes. Reviewers with Validate Missing can turn on the Missed results digest, a periodic notification of new Missing Results. See Organizational and personal notification settings.
