Overview
A scheduled Checklist is missed when its Calendar slot or Ad Hoc Slot ends before anyone submits it. Mobaro then records a Missing Result, which stays open until a Reviewer approves or reschedules it.
This article covers how to stop Checklists going missing in the first place: the Schedule settings that give people time, remind them, and skip closed days. To handle Missing Results that already exist, see Approving or rescheduling missed Results. For how Missing Results work, see How to handle missing results.

Why Checklists go missing
The slot ended — at its deadline, or at the end of its grace period — before the Checklist was submitted.
Progress was saved to finish later but never submitted. Only a submitted Checklist counts.
The Checklist was completed for a different Location or Asset.
The assignee couldn't see it: they weren't in Assigned to, or weren't a member of the Location.
The Location was closed, but the Schedule's slots weren't excluded.
Settings that prevent missed Checklists
Setting | What it does |
Allow grace period | Adds time after the deadline before the Checklist goes missing. Set it on a Pattern, a Specific or an Ad Hoc Slot. See Adding Grace Periods to Schedules and Calendars. |
Reminders | Sends assignees a push notification if the Checklist isn't done by the time you set. See Adding reminders to Schedules. |
Allow early start | Lets assignees start before the slot opens, in the Schedule's Compliance settings. |
Notify assignees when scheduled checklist(s) becomes available | Tells assignees when an Ad Hoc Slot opens. |
Exclusions | Skips slots during a closure. Add them before the slots start — see How to schedule a Checklist. |
Also check that every assignee is a member of the target Locations, directly or through a User Group. See What you need before you can schedule a Checklist.
Find out about misses early
The Missed results digest notification sends Reviewers with Validate Missing a periodic summary of new Missing Results. See Organizational and personal notification settings.
A Summary Report notification rule emails a summary that includes missed Checklists. See Create and manage Notification Rules.
The Missed Checklists Widget shows misses on a dashboard.
Ignore missing results
Ticking Ignore missing results in a Schedule's or Ad Hoc Slot's Compliance settings stops it creating Missing Results. Completed Checklists still become Results; uncompleted ones leave no record. To change many Schedules at once, select them in Schedules and use Bulk Change Compliance Settings.
Only use it for Checklists that are genuinely optional. If you inherited Schedules from someone else, check whether it's on — Checklists that should be tracked may be silently going undone.
🛑 Critical: Never combine Ignore missing results with Is critical for operation. A critical Checklist could then go undone with no record that it was missed.
When a Checklist was already missed
Go to Results › Missing Results and either approve the miss or reschedule it. Rescheduling creates a new Ad Hoc Slot; the original Missing Result stays on record, marked as rescheduled. Earlier answers carry over only if you tick Allow assignees to continue unfinished results. See Approving or rescheduling missed Results.
Best practices
Use a grace period rather than a later deadline when you want a target time with some slack.
Add Exclusions for planned closures before the slots start.
If the same Checklist keeps going missing, fix its slot times or assignees instead of approving it every time.
Add Reviewers to every Schedule, so Missing Results don't depend on Super Users.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still complete a checklist after it went missing?
Not in the original slot — it has ended. Reschedule the Missing Result to create a new slot. See Approving or rescheduling missed Results.
Why is a checklist marked as missed when staff say they completed it?
It wasn't submitted for that Location or Asset before the slot ended — for example, it was saved to finish later, or completed for another Location. See How to handle missing results.
How do I give staff more time before a checklist is marked missed?
Tick Allow grace period on the Pattern, Specific or Ad Hoc Slot. The Checklist stays available until the grace period ends, and only then goes missing.
What does Ignore missing results do?
It stops a Schedule or Ad Hoc Slot from creating Missing Results. Completed Checklists still become Results; uncompleted ones leave no record. Don't use it on Checklists that are critical for operation.
How do I clear a large backlog of missing results?
Approve them in bulk: select up to 100 in Results › Missing Results and click Approve missing result(s). Missing Results can't be deleted. See Approving or rescheduling missed Results.
