Deactivating a Super User

How to ask Mobaro to remove Super User status or disable a Super User, who can ask, and what changes afterwards.

Written by Logan Bowlby

Overview

Only Mobaro can remove Super User status. You can't remove it in the Backend, and no one in your organization can disable, delete or edit another Super User there, even another Super User. This article shows how to ask Mobaro to deactivate a Super User and what changes afterwards.

Super User status applies per organization. A Super User has every permission in each organization they're a Super User of, and no extra access in any other organization. To deactivate someone in several organizations, name each one. For regular Users, see How to deactivate a User.

💡 Why this matters: Super Users have every permission in their organization. Removing that access promptly when someone leaves or changes job is a key part of keeping your organization secure.

When to deactivate

  • The person is leaving or changing job.

  • They no longer need everything. A Role can give them just the permissions their job needs.

  • An access review finds Super User access that should be reduced.

Choose what should happen

Option

What happens

Remove Super User status only

The User stays active in the organization and keeps any Roles, User Groups and Location memberships they already had.

Remove status and disable the User

The User can't use your organization until someone enables them again. Their memberships are kept.

Once Super User status is removed, your own Super Users, or anyone with Users › Delete, can disable, enable or delete the User like any other. See How to deactivate a User.

⚠️ Heads-up: Disabling a Super User removes their Super User status in that organization permanently. Enabling them again restores their access, but not Super User status. To give it back, request it again as described in Activating a new Super User.

Send the request

Requests must come from an existing Super User in the organization, or from an account owner or decision-maker Mobaro has on file. Requests from anyone else are sent back to your Customer Success Manager for confirmation, which delays the change.

Use the button below to open a pre-filled email to [email protected]. Send it from the email address Mobaro has on file for you, and include:

  • Name of requesting User: your name.

  • Name of Organization: each Mobaro organization where the Super User status should be removed.

  • Name and email of the Super User: the email address they sign in with.

  • Effective date: immediately, end of day, or a specific date.

  • Action: remove Super User status only, or also disable the User.

ℹ️ Note: Standard requests are usually processed within one to three Mobaro support business days. For urgent requests, such as an immediate departure, copy your Customer Success Manager.

After deactivation

  • The change applies from the person's next action in Mobaro.

  • If they stay active, they can do only what their Roles allow, and they see Location data such as Results only for Locations they're a member of. If they had no Roles, give them one first.

  • Their history stays in Mobaro: completed Results and Assignments keep their name.

Best practices

  • Send the request a few business days before a known departure.

  • Before the change, reassign open Assignments and check Schedules and Notification Rules that name the Super User.

  • When someone changes job but stays, remove Super User status and give them a Role rather than disabling them.

  • Keep at least two Super Users per organization, and review Super User access regularly.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove or delete a super user?

Ask Mobaro. Email [email protected] using the button above. Once Super User status is removed, you can disable or delete the User yourself if you have Users › Delete.

Can a super user be replaced by someone else in one request?

Yes. Ask Mobaro to remove the old Super User and name the new one in the same email. The new Super User needs the details in Activating a new Super User.

The super user belongs to several of our organizations. What do I do?

Name every organization in your request. Super User status applies per organization, so Mobaro removes it in each one you list.

My super user account has been deactivated. Is that an error?

Ask Mobaro Support. Disabling a Super User removes their Super User status in that organization, and enabling them again doesn't restore it. See How do I troubleshoot login issues or disabled accounts in Mobaro?.

I've left the company. How do I remove my own account?

Ask a Super User in your organization to disable or delete you. No one can disable themselves. If you're a Super User, ask Mobaro Support.
