Overview
Work done in the Mobaro app can sit on the phone for a while before it reaches Mobaro: finished Checklists and Assignment changes wait in the upload queue, and progress saved with Save to this Device stays on the phone until someone finishes it. This article explains what happens to that data when you log out, use Recovery Procedures or Factory Reset, or reinstall the app, and how to get it to Mobaro safely.
If finished work is simply taking a long time to upload, start with the connection checks in Working online versus offline with Mobaro.

🛑 Critical: Factory Reset, uninstalling the app, clearing its data and resetting the device all delete work that hasn't reached Mobaro, for every user of that device. It can't be recovered. First have each user of the device sign in until the tile shows No pending uploads, and send saved progress.
Where unsent work waits
Where | What's in it | How to see it |
Upload queue | Finished Checklists, photos, Assignment changes and comments, time registrations and profile changes not yet sent | The connection tile on the home screen: Uploading # items or No pending uploads |
Progress saved to this device | Unfinished Checklists left with Save to this Device | The Checklist shows saved progress in the CHECKLISTS list |
Progress saved in the cloud | Unfinished Checklists left with Save in the Cloud | Stored by Mobaro, not on the phone. See Completing Checklists across multiple devices and users |
Queued items belong to the user who created them and upload only while that user is signed in. The connection tile counts only the signed-in user's items, so No pending uploads doesn't mean other users' items have gone. Progress saved to the device isn't a Result: for a scheduled Checklist, once the slot's deadline passes the app sends it as an expired, unfinished result the next time that user is signed in.
What each action does
Action | Upload queue | Progress saved to this device |
Close and reopen the app | Kept; the app retries | Kept |
Logout | Kept, but paused until the same user signs in again. Logout in your Profile doesn't warn you first | Kept |
Recovery Procedures | Kept | Sent to Mobaro as unfinished data, not as Results |
Factory Reset | Deleted, after a warning | Deleted, for every user |
Uninstall, clear app data or reset the device | Deleted, with no warning | Deleted, with no warning |
Progress saved in the cloud isn't affected by any of these: it stays with Mobaro until someone resumes or deletes it.
Send saved progress to Mobaro
Recovery Procedures sends all progress saved on the device to Mobaro as unfinished data, for every user who saved progress there, from the account of the user who is signed in. Use it when that progress can't be finished on this device, for example before a factory reset, before a broken phone is replaced, or when Mobaro Support asks you to.
1. Open your Profile
On the home screen, tap the tile with your profile photo.
2. Tap Recovery Procedures
It's at the bottom of the list. The Recovery dialog warns: Submitting unfinished results prevents you from further editing the checklist. Are you sure you want to send ALL intermediate results?
3. Tap OK
The app adds the progress to the upload queue and shows Progress has been turned into results and queued for upload! Tap OK. If it shows Something went wrong while recovering your data, contact Mobaro Support and don't reset the device.
4. Let it upload
Stay online until the connection tile shows No pending uploads.
⚠️ Heads-up: Recovered data doesn't become a Result. It doesn't appear under Results, doesn't complete the slot and doesn't change readiness. If the work must count, finish and submit the Checklist while its slot is still open.
Factory reset the app
Factory Reset deletes everything the app stores on the device and signs you out: the upload queue, saved progress, downloaded Checklist files, photos not yet uploaded, and your settings on this device, such as the Location Group Filter and a connected Bluetooth thermometer. Use it only when Support advises it, or when the device is being handed to someone else and nothing is waiting.
1. Empty the queue and send saved progress
Have each user of the device sign in until the tile shows No pending uploads, then run Recovery Procedures if anyone saved progress on the device, and let it upload.
2. Tap Factory Reset
In your Profile, tap Factory Reset. The app asks: Do you really want to delete all user data? You will be logged out afterward. Tap OK.
3. Stop if uploads are pending
If anything is still queued, the app shows Pending upload(s). Tap Cancel to stop the reset. Tapping Log out here continues the reset and deletes the queued items.
4. Sign in again
Sign in online, so the app can download your Checklists again. Tablets running RideOps are reset differently; see Resetting the RideOps app.
When to contact Support
Contact Mobaro Support before you reset or reinstall anything when:
the connection tile's count doesn't go down even though the device can open app.mobaro.com in a browser;
a Checklist shows This checklist has been answered already but no Result appears in the Backend;
progress disappeared, or was sent as unfinished because a deadline passed.
Send the user's name, the Checklist, the Location and the approximate time, and a screenshot of the connection tile. Mobaro keeps unfinished and expired data where only Mobaro staff can see it. For progress that expired or was deleted, Support can usually turn it back into progress saved in the cloud, so it can be picked up again. Data sent with Recovery Procedures can't be made resumable this way.
Best practices
Before handing over or signing out of a shared device, check the connection tile shows No pending uploads.
On shared devices, use Save in the Cloud for unfinished Checklists, so a reset or lost device doesn't take the progress with it.
Never uninstall the app to "fix" a stuck upload. Close and reopen it, check the connection, then contact Support.
Tell device managers (MDM) not to wipe or re-enroll devices while items are queued.
Frequently asked questions
My checklists won't upload and the queue keeps growing. What do I do?
Check the device can open app.mobaro.com in a browser, keep the app open and close and reopen it once. If the count still doesn't drop, contact Mobaro Support with a screenshot of the connection tile. Don't log out, reinstall or factory reset.
We reinstalled the app and our checklists are gone. Can you get them back?
Usually not. Uninstalling deletes anything that hadn't reached Mobaro. Contact Support with the user and time anyway: anything that uploaded, or was sent as unfinished before the reinstall, may still be found.
Does Recovery Procedures complete the checklist?
No. It sends the saved answers to Mobaro as unfinished data. They don't appear under Results and don't complete the slot. To count, the Checklist must be finished and submitted.
Will logging out delete my work?
No. Queued items and saved progress stay on the device, and queued items upload when the same user signs in again. Logout in your Profile doesn't warn you about them, so check the connection tile first. Only a factory reset, uninstalling or clearing the app's data deletes them.
I lost the checklist I was working on. Where did it go?
If you saved progress to the device and the deadline passed, the app sent it as an expired, unfinished result. Contact Mobaro Support: they can usually make it resumable again. Use Save in the Cloud to avoid this next time.
