Overview
Asset management in Mobaro brings your equipment, the maintenance work on it, the time spent and the spare parts used into one place. You record each ride, system and component as an Asset, schedule inspections and raise repairs against it, log labor in Timesheets and, with Inventory, track stock in your Warehouses.
This page explains what each part does today, how the parts fit together, and what Mobaro doesn't do. Each section links to the full how-to.

💡 Why this matters: Maintenance history is only useful when it's attached to the right piece of equipment. Tracking Assets, their inspections, repairs, labor and parts in Mobaro gives every item one record that operations, maintenance and leadership can all see.

Assets and hierarchies
Every Asset belongs to one Location, directly or under a parent Asset at the same Location. Location membership decides who can see an Asset and its work. Build a tree such as Coaster › Electrical System › Control Panels › MCC1, and move Assets or whole branches with Move. See Create an Asset, Linking Assets to Locations and Asset hierarchies and parent/child relationships.
Each Asset has a Name, Short name, Description, External ID, Serial, Code and Custom Scanner Code. Manufacturer, Model and Category are chosen from lists that Mobaro maintains; you can't add your own fields or values. Every saved Asset has a QR code, and Show Activities lists who created, changed, moved or deleted it. See Understanding Asset fields and properties and Asset history and audit trail.
🛑 Critical: Deleting an Asset also deletes all of its descendant Assets and removes them from the Schedules that target them. It can't be undone. To retire equipment but keep its record, move it under an archive Asset instead of deleting it.
Maintenance work on Assets
Scheduled inspections: in a Schedule's Where? section, set Target type to Assets and pick the Assets. Preventive maintenance runs on Calendar, Continuous and Ad Hoc Schedules; there are no usage-based triggers such as run hours or cycles. See Asset-driven Assignments and Schedules.
Repairs and tasks: Mobaro calls work orders Assignments. Choose the Asset in Attach to asset when you create one, or have a Checklist answer raise one with an Assignment trigger. See How to create and delegate an assignment and Assignment triggers in Checklists.
Work history: filter Results and Assignments by Asset. The Asset's own history lists changes to the Asset, not its work.
⚠️ Heads-up: Targeting a parent Asset doesn't include its children. To inspect every Asset in a branch, select each one on the Schedule, then check the assignees with Schedule Metrics.
Assignment Definitions
Assignment Definitions let you set up your own Assignment types in Configuration › Assignments. Super Users and Roles with Organization › Administrate create and edit them. For each definition you can set:
States: exactly one Initial and at least one Final, Require Documentation, and Who can resolve.
Priorities: one Default, Critical for operation, and a Time frame policy for start and deadline.
Categories: single or multiple choice.
Who can create, Who can be assigned, Limit type of assignee to and Allow assigning one or several assignees.
A Deadline delay policy.
See Using Assignment Definitions and Manage deadlines and priorities in assignment definitions. Without definitions, you can still use organization-wide Assignment Categories.
Labor and Timesheets
Users log time as Timesheet entries on Results and Assignments. On Calendar and Continuous Schedules, Enable Time Registration can make time entry Optional or Required when a Checklist is finished. Entry types are set up in Configuration › Time Registration by users with Organization › Administrate. Super Users and Roles with Timesheets › Administrate approve entries; approved entries are locked for their owner, and nothing is approved automatically. Spare parts and Inventory
Inventory (early access) keeps a catalogue of materials in categories, and the stock of each material per Warehouse. A Warehouse can be targeted to a Location or be storage only. You add, adjust and transfer stock, and every change appears in the material's Stock History. Planned materials can be added to an Assignment as a requisition; the materials actually used are taken from stock when the Assignment is resolved and recorded as Consumption. Mobaro can import your materials, Warehouses and opening stock from a spreadsheet.
Materials and stock aren't linked to Assets. See Inventory in Mobaro: overview and Setting up Inventory.
What Mobaro doesn't do
While planned for future releases, currently, there are no:
low-stock notifications, par levels or under-par workflows;
inventory consumption, projection or planning reports, or an Inventory API;
custom Asset fields or properties of your own;
maintenance policies driven by Asset properties, run hours or cycles;
work items or Checklists inside an Assignment. To have a Checklist done as follow-up, use an Ad Hoc Slot trigger — see Adding triggers to a checklist.
Best practices
Sketch your Asset hierarchy with operations and maintenance before you build it, and use the same structure for similar rides.
Fill in External ID and Serial on major Assets, so records can be matched with other systems and traced to the physical unit.
Schedule each Asset's recurring inspections from day one, so its work history builds up in real time.
Assign repairs to a User Group rather than one person, so work is picked up when someone is off shift.
Count stock regularly and correct it with Adjust: Mobaro doesn't stop stock going below zero.
Frequently asked questions
What is Asset Management?
It's how Mobaro tracks equipment and its maintenance: Assets and their hierarchy, inspections scheduled on Assets, repairs as Assignments, Timesheets and, in early access, Inventory. Some parts are enabled per organization; see the table on this page.
How do I create a work order?
In Mobaro, work orders are Assignments. In Assignments, click Create, choose the Location in Applies to (Location) and the Asset in Attach to asset (shown when the Location has Assets), then the assignee. See How to create and delegate an assignment.
Can I assign a checklist to an asset instead of a location?
Yes, once Scheduling functionality for assets is enabled. In the Schedule's Where? section, set Target type to Assets and pick them. See Asset-driven Assignments and Schedules.
Is there a specific place for preventive maintenance?
Preventive maintenance is a Checklist on a Schedule that targets your Assets, with its own cadence and compliance settings. Schedules are time-based; Mobaro can't trigger PMs from run hours or cycle counts.
Can Mobaro be used for inventory?
Yes, with Inventory (early access): materials, stock per Warehouse, adjustments, transfers and materials used on Assignments. It doesn't send low-stock alerts or produce consumption reports. Ask your CSM to enable it. See Inventory in Mobaro: overview.
Is the asset tree connected to the inventory module?
No. Materials and stock aren't linked to Assets. A Warehouse can be targeted to a Location, and materials reach the work through requisitions on Assignments. To track a single tool with its own history, create it as an Asset.
