Overview
Add the materials you need to an Assignment while you plan the work. Choose the warehouse each material comes from, then check what was actually used when you resolve the Assignment.

Before you start
The Assignment needs a Location and must still allow changes. Connect the app to the internet to find materials and load warehouse quantities. Planning materials does not reserve or remove stock. For the full stock rules, see Requisitions: requesting and fulfilling stock.
Add materials
1. Open the Materials tab
Open the Assignment, select Materials and tap Add.
2. Find the material
In Select a Material, enter a name or SKU in the search field. Search looks across categories. You can also clear the search and browse the category tree, including Uncategorized. Tap the material you want. Use Load more if more search results are available.
3. Choose the warehouse
In Select Warehouse, check the quantities and tap the warehouse you will take the material from. Use the search field to narrow the warehouse names. If nothing matches, clear the search and check the available list.
4. Enter the planned quantity
Use the number field or the minus and plus buttons to enter the quantity. Check the SKU, warehouse and available stock, then tap Add. The planned quantity cannot exceed the available stock. Repeat for other materials. Tap an existing material to change its quantity and select Update.
Record what you used
1. Review materials when resolving
When you resolve the Assignment, review the Materials section. Compare Planned and Used. Tap a material to change Actually used, then tap Update before finishing the resolution.
🛑 Critical: Resolving records consumption and locks the materials. Reopening the Assignment does not return the stock. Correct a stock discrepancy with Adjusting and transferring stock.
Best practices
Choose the warehouse the material will actually come from.
Check the quantities again before resolving; a plan does not reserve stock.
Record what you used while the work is still fresh.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I add materials to this Assignment?
Check that Inventory is enabled, the Assignment has a Location, you can modify it, and it is not resolved. Reconnect if materials have not loaded.
Does adding materials reserve stock?
No. The quantity is a plan. Stock changes when the Assignment is resolved, so other work can use it in the meantime.
I reopened the Assignment. Why didn’t the stock come back?
Reopening does not reverse recorded consumption. Use the Backend’s stock adjustment workflow; see Adjusting and transferring stock.
