Overview
Use Based on element visibility to show or hide a Checklist page or element according to whether another question is visible. Several elements can follow the same question, so you do not need to repeat its logic on each element.
Only questions can be the controlling element: pages, Text Elements and Image Elements aren't offered. For logic in general, see Adding logic to a Checklist.

Add a visibility condition
1. Open the logic panel
Go to Checklists, select the Checklist and click Edit. Click the page header or the element you want to show or hide, and expand Logic.
2. Choose the controlling question
Click Add Logic and choose Based on element visibility. In Visibility of element, pick the question to follow; each entry shows the page it's on, and you can type in Search here... to find it.
3. Choose Visible or Not visible
Choose Visible to show the content while the question is shown, or Not visible to show it while the question is hidden. A condition that isn't fully set up stops you from saving the Checklist.
4. Save
Click Accept Changes, then Save the Checklist.
The list has limits: page logic can't pick a question on the same page, and an element can't pick itself. Questions whose own logic already depends on the element you're editing are greyed out, because that would be a circular dependency.
What counts as visible
Only visibility is read, not the answer. To react to what was answered, use Logic based on an answer to a question.
A question without logic is always visible, so Not visible on it is never met.
Live updates — when the controlling question appears or disappears, for example because of an answer, the content that follows it updates straight away, in the Mobile app and RideOps.
Chains — a follower can itself be followed, so one root condition can govern a whole branch. If a question in the chain is hidden, everything below it that uses Visible is hidden too.
Hidden content doesn't need an answer, so the Checklist can still be completed.
⚠️ Heads-up: The mobile app and RideOps read "visible" slightly differently. In the mobile app, a question counts as visible when its own logic is met, even if its page is hidden by page logic. In RideOps, a question on a hidden page counts as Not visible. Put the rule you want to follow on the controlling question itself, not only on its page, and both give the same result. In RideOps, the controlling question must also come earlier in the Checklist than the page or element that follows it; a question further down isn't found, so the condition doesn't work as expected.
Changes that affect followers
Deleting the controlling question — the editor asks you to confirm Delete element and dependant logic. The visibility conditions that pointed at it are removed, so the followers then show unless they have other conditions.
Outdated apps — very old versions of the Mobaro app ignore visibility conditions, so the content shows. Keep devices updated: see How to download and update the Mobaro mobile app.
Examples
Follow one rule across pages. The question Is the water feature running? shows only at water-feature Locations on weekdays, using a Property and two Weekday conditions. A photo, a reading and a sign-off on later pages each have Visibility of element Is the water feature running? Visible. Change the rule once, on the question, and all three follow.
Show an alternative. Why wasn't the splash pad inspected? has the condition Splash pad inspection Not visible, so it appears whenever the inspection question is hidden.
Best practices
Keep the controlling rule on one clearly named question, earlier in the Checklist than everything that follows it.
Put the conditions on the controlling question itself, not only on its page.
Keep chains short; two levels are easy to check, five are not.
Before deleting a question, check which elements follow it.
Test every path in the mobile app, and in RideOps if the Checklist runs there, before you schedule it.
Frequently asked questions
Can a page or text element control visibility?
No. Visibility of element lists questions only. Pick a question whose own logic carries the rule you want to follow, or use page logic to hide a whole block.
Content that follows another question stays hidden. Why?
The question it follows is hidden, often because that question depends on another hidden question further up the chain. Work up the chain and check each condition. In the mobile app, also check the question's own logic, not just its page.
Does Visible check how the question was answered?
No. It only checks whether the question is shown. To branch on the answer, use Logic based on an answer to a question.
