Overview
Add a Water Quality Question to a Checklist, select a ruleset and choose the parameters staff must record. When staff complete the Checklist, Mobaro uses its Location to select the applicable rule.

Add the question
1. Insert the element
In the Checklist editor, click Add an element on the page where the question should go and choose Water Quality Question.
2. Link a ruleset
In Question Configuration, choose a ruleset from the Ruleset dropdown. It starts at None; without a ruleset, readings are recorded but not checked.
3. Tick the parameters
Tick the parameters staff record on this Checklist, then save the question and the Checklist. For the full steps, triggers and screenshots, see How to add water quality checks to a checklist.
🛑 Critical: If no rule matches a Location, readings there aren't checked against any limits, and nothing warns you. Make sure every Location is covered — for example, end the ruleset with a rule that has no Location Groups.
Design your water checklists
Match the check round. An opening Checklist might record a full baseline, while hourly or closing checks record only pH and chlorine.
Match the rule. A parameter ticked on the question but not in the rule that applies is recorded without being checked.
One ruleset per question. A Checklist can hold several Water Quality Questions, each with its own ruleset and parameters — for example one per water body on a combined round.
Add follow-ups. Triggers and logic can react to readings below, within or above the rule's range. See Understanding validation warnings and failures.
Add guidance. Reference images, manuals, videos and links can show staff how to take the reading. See Water Quality Question type.
Before you go live
Staff record readings in the Mobile app. RideOps doesn't support Water Quality Questions: readings there aren't checked against a ruleset.
Readings are checked on the phone, so checks also work offline.
Each parameter has a fixed unit and number of decimals, which you can't change. See Configuring measurement parameters.
Generate with AI never creates Water Quality Questions — add them yourself.
Super Users and users with Results › Modify can edit or remove a reading in a completed Result's Water Quality table, but its Low or High marker isn't recalculated.
After copying a Checklist to another organization, select a ruleset from that organization on each Water Quality Question.
If a linked ruleset is deleted, the question's Ruleset is set to None.

Link a ruleset on every Water Quality Question.
Tick the same parameters on the question as in the rule that applies.

Frequently asked questions
Can I set 2 decimals on a water quality question?
No. Decimals are fixed per parameter: the three chlorine parameters and pH take exactly one decimal (enter 2.0, not 2), Turbidity (NTU) up to two, and all others whole numbers. See Configuring measurement parameters.
How do I add another pool to an existing water quality checklist?
You don't need a new Checklist. Schedule it at the pool's Location and make sure a rule in the linked ruleset covers that Location. See Best practices for structuring rulesets.
What does a water quality question look like in the app?
Staff see one row per ticked parameter. They tap a row to enter the reading, which is shown with its unit; an out-of-range reading gets a High or Low badge.
Can staff record water readings in RideOps?
Not as a Water Quality check. RideOps doesn't check readings against a ruleset, so staff should record them in the Mobile app. For a simple reading in RideOps, such as water temperature on a ride, use a Number Question.
