Overview
Note Templates prefill the Title, Description and Type of a Note in RideOps. Create templates for information Operators record often, such as shift handovers or a weather hold. Operators can review the prefilled content before saving the Note.
Templates are used only in RideOps. Operators can still write Notes from scratch, and they can change the pre-filled text before saving. For the categories Notes use, see Setting up Note Types.

Create a Note Template
1. Open the Note Templates table
In the Mobaro Backend, go to Configuration and open the RideOps tab. Note Templates is below the Note Types table. If it shows Please configure at least one note type before creating note templates, create a Note Type first.
2. Fill in the template
Click + (Create) and fill in the Note Template dialog (settings below). Click Ok. To change a template later, select it and click the pencil (Edit), or double-click it.
Setting | What it does |
Name | Required. The label on the template button in RideOps. |
Title | Required. Fills the Note's Title. |
Description | Fills the Note's Description. Formatting is kept. |
Note Type | Required. The Type the Note gets, which also decides approval, Assignments and emails. |
Limit to | Optional Locations and Location Groups. Empty means every Location in RideOps. |
Color | Optional background color of the template button in RideOps. |
Note Templates in RideOps
When an operator opens Create Note in RideOps, the templates for that Location appear as buttons under Templates. Tapping one fills in the Title, Description and Type; tapping it again deselects it and clears those fields. The operator can edit the text, add media, and tap Save. Operators can still create Notes without a template.
A template appears for a Location if its Limit to is empty, or includes that Location or one of its Location Groups. When at least one template applies to a Location, the RideOps Dashboard also shows a note button that opens Create Note.
Delete a Note Template
Select the template and click the trash icon (Delete). The template disappears from RideOps; Notes already created from it aren't affected. A Note Type can't be deleted while a template uses it.
🛑 Critical: There's no confirmation step — the template is deleted as soon as you click Delete, and it can't be restored. Check you've selected the right row first.
Best practices
Template the handful of Notes your operators log most often, with a clear Title and the right Type.
Use a Type with Require Approval or Trigger Assignment for templates that need follow-up, such as a safety observation.
Use Limit to so each ride only shows templates that apply to it — fewer buttons, fewer mistakes.
Give related templates the same Color so operators recognise them at a glance.
Frequently asked questions
The titles I set in note templates don't show up. Why?
Templates are used only in RideOps. When an operator taps the template under Templates in Create Note, its Title fills the Note's Title; a template with no Title uses its Name. The Backend doesn't offer templates, so Notes created there start empty.
Can I use a template to create a note from the web?
No. The Backend's Notes › Create doesn't offer templates — enter the Title, Type and Description yourself. Templates are a RideOps shortcut.
Why can't I create a Note Template?
Your organization has no Note Types yet — the table shows Please configure at least one note type before creating note templates. Create a Type first. See Setting up Note Types.
Why can't I see a template in RideOps?
Its Limit to probably doesn't include the Location RideOps is showing, or one of that Location's Location Groups. Clear Limit to to show it everywhere, or add the Location.
